Rush Dissenters Unswayed By Apologies

THE MOUTH, MARCH 6TH, 2012 –– In Rush Limbaugh's first appearance back on the air yesterday since his weekend press release, he picked up where he left off by once again apologizing to Sandra Fluke for his comments: "...I used those words to describe Sandra Fluke and I feel very badly about that. They were inappropriate and uncalled for and distracted from the point that I was actually trying to make, and I apologize again to Ms. Fluke." This didn't seem to sway some of his advertisers with the number now totalling 9 of those who've pulled their advertising. Two of his affiliates also pulled the plug: KPUA AM 670 in Hawaii and WBEC in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Fluke, making an appearance on 'The View," was also unmoved by the apology saying "It doesn't seem to change things." Meanwhile, according to The Huffington Post, Reddit user Jaybercrow began phase two of its Limbaugh boycott, urging users to target local stations that broadcast his show and acquire lists of smaller advertisers. Jayercrow wrote yesterday: "Here is what I propose, go to Rush Limbaugh's website and find who is broadcasting Rush in your city. Visit that stations website and gather the sponsors contact information. Then place that information into your local r/ thread For instance and start a thread that says "XZY City, it is time to organize... [all sic]." Fortunately, not all news was bad for Limbaugh yesterday. Amid all the controversy, it was announced that he'll be joining Hall of Famouns Missourians.

FUGGEDABOUTIT: Victoria Gotti Not Impressed With "Mob Wives" [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, MARCH 6TH, 2012 –– If you really want to know just how good a mob show is, just ask the Victoria Gotti, wife of a former mob boss. Oh yeah, toss in the daughter of the Salvatore "Sammy the bull" Gravano who ratted out Gotti on the witness stand---Badda Boom!! This was the case yesterday when Victoria rang up 970 The Apple/New York's Frank Morano. When he asked her about 'Mob Wives" she said: "God bless them, is what I say ... If you ask me, do I see any major talent there in each of them, or any of them? No." She went on to call "Mob Wives" a "train wreck," and said it wasn't "real." "I've never met this girl. I don't know her. I don't like what I see, per se, and hear, but at the same time, I think the whole 'Mob Wives' thing is a complete joke," she said. Regarding Karen Gravano, Morano himself says he's gotten criticism for taking sides with Gotti over Gravano, but says: "I guess to me the major difference is Karen is herself a convicted criminal, and she really doesn't have any major talents," Morano said. Let us know you entered and, when space allows, we'll post your pic and details here in our daily blast. Perhaps then some of your fellow radio peeps who don't have an entry can lend support. MORE FUEL TO FIRE: Station To End Mail Order Bride Contest On International Women's Day

THE MOUTH, MARCH 5TH, 2012 –– As Jockline Daily reported earlier, Q104 Halifax found itself once again in the crosshairs over its controversial 'Mail Order Bride Contest, named "The Male Is In The Czech." If that didn't fire up women's groups enough, now comes word that the station plans to end the contest next Thursday on International Women's Day!! According to The Chronicle Herald, one official took issue with its motive. “We’re not sure if the station did this naively or deliberately, but either way it is offensive,” said Laurie Ehler, executive director of Bryony House in Halifax. Q104 program director J.C. Douglas said last week the station had no intention of backing away from the promotion during rating's sweeps that closes March 8th. The winner would be announced the following Monday. The winner would then be flown to the Czech Republic to date a “bevy of Czech beauties” and possibly select a mate in a joint promotion with Flying Hearts International Dating Service in Prague. At least one group plans to have a busload of protestors at the radio station around noon unless it drops the contest, said Ehler.

Former WABB-FM Morning Show Heads To WABD-FM Mobile; Figueroa Joins K92.3/Orlando For Mornings; Which Host Is About To Be Kiss'd?

Q-Tip & Nick Return Next Week, Blondie In Talks

THE MOUTH, MARCH 5TH, 2012 –– As Jockline Daily tipped you last Friday, the ink has apparently dried on Glenn (Q-Tip) Johnson (shown) and Nick Fox' return to Mobile airwaves on WABD-FM (104.1). This comes on the heels of their exit following the sale of WABB-FM. According to The Examiner a posting on Facebook by its administrator says Glenn Johnson and Nick Fox will start next Monday, March 12th and they're reportedly in talks to bring over Rachel (Blondie) Jones, a fellow host on the show. WABD-FM is, of course, the former home of WYOK which played adult hit. Following WABB-FM's sale, Cumulus quickly took over the CHR reigns as WABD-FM. And for those wondering why not WABB-FM, that's because WABB-AM wasn't part of the sale and is still operational. ------- Further east, WWKA K92-3/Orlando has added Ashley Figueroa for Mornings. She joins AJ Maguire as they become, tadahhhh: "AJ and Ashley." Most recently, Figueroa wasv Marketing Director for the Mavericks in Jacksonville, FL. Her prior stints include US 93.3/Fort Wayne and Radio Now 100.9/Indianapolis. Former co-host Grace Vasquez moves to middays.----- And from our wandering ear department, is it true that a certain souther host is about to be Kiss'd. Stay tuned.
