MEDIA PREDICTION: Streaming Music is The Future THE MOUTH, JANUARY 5TH, 2015 –– CNN's Frank Pallotta says 2014 was an up and down year for media, but as the year wound down he forecast three media predictions for the new year: Atop the list was that 2015 would see a big box office year for film-makers, ie. there would be light at the end of the tunnel for Hollywood following a somewhat dismal year. He credits new films such as "Fifty Shades of Grey," "Avengers: Age of Ultron," and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as greatest contributors to the turnaround. At number two he pointed to Stand alone HBO GO as being the 'tipping point' for cord cutters. This followed HBO announcing in October that it would start selling subscriptions via the internet sometime in 2015 thus opening the network to a potentially new audience. But his third prediction is what caught our eye saying 'Streaming music is the future,' adding this would be the case whether 'Taylor Swift likes it or not. A reference to the spat between Taylor Swift and Spotify after the pop star pulled her music from the platform in November. As we head into 2015, Pallotta looks to Billboard 200 now counting streams, YouTube creating its own music service, and only one album achieving platinum status in 2014. "The music industry is clearly moving towards a streaming future," he suggests. Pallotta adds, "As media showed us in 2014 it can't stop, won't stop moving forward. READ ARTICLE HERE
