[WATCH] Couple Saved From Burning Car, Track Down Good Samaritans With Radio Show Assist

7

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 14TH, 2016 –– The KVJ Show at WRMF in West Palm Beach received an e-mail from a woman, named Alexis (above right) , who was trying to find the Good Samaritan who pulled her and her new husband, Eric (above left), out of a burning car after a date night, which saved their lives. After a quick on-air interview, one Good Samaritan, Bruce Morrell (bottom right) was found after his stepmom heard about it on the KVJ Show (Kevin, Virginia & Jason - bottom left). Kevin tells Jockline, "We have still not found the second Good Samaritan, but we're continuing to look. He was said to be dressed in a business suit and driving a white BMW. He and Morrell kicked in the windshield and helped drag the couple to safety. Alexis and Eric were able to thank Bruce for saving their lives on The KVJ Show., but the search is still on for the remaining Good Samaritan that Alexis thinks might have just been her guardian angel. Kevin describes Morrell as a low-key guy and didn't want any attention, so he left as soon as he saw that the couple was safe. Bruce is covered in Batman tattoos. So when Alexis and Eric thanked him for saving their lives, they gave him a Batman mug and hat.

CBS12 West Palm Beach reported that Eric and Alexis had gone out on a date to celebrate two weeks of marriage when their car crashed. It landed upside down and caught fire. Alexis said a couple of guys came out of nowhere and kicked the windows out and pulled the couple to safety. WATCH HERE

'A Symbiotic Relationship; 'Top Comedians Name The Most Influential Radio Shows For Stand Up

7

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 14TH, 2016 –– Chad Zumock is the former radio host who recently sat down with Gregg “Opie” Hughes and his former long time partner, Anthony Cumia (this was the first time in two years O&A were on the air together during Opie's new afternoon show on SiriusXM). Zumock writes in theinterrobang.com that he began thinking about how radio has been so important to so many comedians through out history. He recalls that through radio he became acquainted with the likes of Jim Norton, Rich Voss, Bill Burr, the late, great Patrice O’Neal and how he heard about Louis C.K. from the Opie and Anthony Show. Zumock adds that in the early days of radio, comedians like vaudevillians Eddie Cantor and Ed Wynn did classic bits and over the years and decades since comedy and comedians in radio would continue to grow and evolve."

"Are there still radio shows out there that are changing the lives of comedians like some have in the past?" he ponders. This led to his reaching out to several of the top comedians and radio hosts to find out which shows still remain the most influential to stand up comics. Troy Hanson (Corporate Program Director of Rock formats for Cumulus Media) tells Zumock, "It’s really a symbiotic relationship isn’t it – morning radio shows & comics. Both bring a great piece of the puzzle that the other needs to the table. When I think about how great Nick DiPaolo sounds on Tom Barnard’s show at KQRS in Minneapolis, or how Jim Breuer absolutely kills it when he goes on Opie’s show, it’s the way a naturally funny conversation happens. UK State Broadcaster, The BBC, Just Like North Korea’s State Broadcaster - In North Korea, you’re not allowed to make fun of the head of state. The BBC in Britain is run the same way. BBC Radio 4 has axed a show hosted by David Baddiel after harmel jokes about the Queen’s sex life on her 90th birthday. Don’t Make Me Laugh, which is created and fronted by Baddiel, features panelists discussing topics they are given. One pre-recorded episode, which aired at 6.30pm on the day of the Queen’s 90th birthday, included the subject “The Queen must have had (s)ex at least four times”. Radio 4 is Britain’s most listened to network with an audience of millions. The BBC received only 120 complaints about the show. The corporation’s governing body, the BBC Trust, ruled that the panelists’ comments were “personal, intrusive and demeaning”. The corporation has now decided to cancel the program.

New York Stations End Battle Over Who Owns 'Woodstock' Calls Following Court Dismissal

7

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 13TH, 2016 –– A U.S. District Court has dismissed a case brought by WDST radio claiming that not-for-profit radio station WIOF had infringed on the “Radio Woodstock” trademark by using “Woodstock 104” to identify itself reports dailyfreeman.com. Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick Scullin Jr. issued the ruling Sept. 19 after “an agreement of the parties” 7was reached to end the case. He wrote that it was “with prejudice” and would prevent the case from being brought again. The resolution leaves WIOF free to continue identifying itself as “Woodstock 104”.

Information provided by WDST showed the station trademarked the phrases “Radio Woodstock” in 1994 and “Woodstock Radio” in 2002. Representatives for both stations have sought to identify themselves as small, independent voices in a broadcast world that conglomerates otherwise control. WIOF, which began operations in September 2014, is at 104.1 FM and operates on 100 watts, while WDST has been on the air since 1980 at 100.1 FM and uses 3,000 watts. While both sides agreed to pay for their own attorney fees, Steele said a lawsuit seeking damages could still be filed to recover other costs.

Woodstock, NY was near the home of the legendary 'Woodstock Music & Art Fair,' which attracted over 400,000 people in 1969. It was held at Max Yasgur's 600-acre dairy farm in the Catskills - 43 miles southwest of Woodstock, New York - ref. wikipedia
