WARM 98.5's Bob Goen, Host Of '96 Miss Universe, Breaks Silence On Trump's Machado Comments

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 7TH, 2016 –– In 1996, Warm 98.5/Cincinnati morning co-host Bob Goen, who at the time co-hosted TV's Entertainment Tonight, hosted The Miss Universe Pageant. Goen and Trump's then-wife Marla Maples co-hosting the ceremony The winner than year was Miss Venezuela, a 19-year-old named Alicia Machado. The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Goen this week to recall the event. "She was really enjoying the moment. She was enjoying her chance to shine in the spotlight," Goen says. "She seemed very upbeat, and she seemed comfortable with the position, and that was it."

Twenty years later, Machado has found herself in the spotlight once again after Hillary Clinton criticized Trump during the first presidential debate for his previous comments about Machado. After the debate, Trump also went on Twitter to discuss her past and an alleged (s)ex tape she had made — an accusation that has been proven to be untrue. THR says Goen didn't watch the debate (he goes to bed early for his morning radio show, Bob & Marianne in the Morning on Cumulus Cincinnati's Warm 98.5), but responding to Trump's comments Goen says "I think his position is inexcusable. I thought it was self-serving. I'm not a fan of the way this was handled."

In 1997, Trump called her an "eating machine" and discussed how her weight had become "unacceptable." "He flew in that day for the pageant," Goen recalls. "I do remember seeing him backstage beforehand and talking with him and talking with Marla, and it was quite genial." Goen recalls his time with Machado fondly. He says, "As much as the language barrier would allow, we got along great, and she was a very sweet gal."

Matthew Weakens Slightly But Continues To Pummel Florida Coast; Radio Host Admitted Fear

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 7TH, 2016 –– Hurricane Matthew weakened slightly Friday morning to a Category 3 storm reports CBS NY, but the U.S. National Hurricane Center says it’s expected to remain a powerful hurricane. As of 5 a.m. this morning, Matthew was centered about 40 miles east-southeast of Cape Canaveral and is moving north-northwest near 13 mph with its strongest winds of 120 mph just off shore. Matthew's aftermath have left street signs dangling in Palm Bay BS billboards ripped from their frames in Juno Beach. The National Hurricane Center says sustained winds of 46 mph and a gust of 70 mph have also been reported in Melbourne. Massive power outages have left more than 270,000 in Florida in the dark and major airports closed down along with Walt Disney World and other amusement parks.

“I’ve been through earthquakes, I’ve been through tornadoes, but I’m not gonna lie — I’m scared,” Tony Zazza, a local radio DJ, posted to Facebook. In an update this morning, Zazza posted: "We are all curled up in haul. Winds are loud and creepy and the shaking and rattling is eerie. But it looks like the storm weakened to a Cat 3 and the eye stayed over the ocean. Daylight approaching and still 6-8 more hours of the pounding winds and rain!"

Matthew has already killed well more than 300 people in the Caribbean (Reuters reporting this morning that 336 have died in Haiti). Mandatory evacuations are also underway in Georgia and South Carolina where the hurricane is expected to hug the coasts of those states this weekend.

It's Complicated: Sean Hannity And Megyn Kelly Make Nice After Kerfuffle

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 7TH, 2016 –– As you may have heard, Premiere syndicated radio host/ Fox TV News' Sean Hannity and cohort Megyn Kelly had a slight kerfuffle this week; thus, setting the internet on fire. This followed Kelly saying on her show, “Donald Trump, with all due respect to my friend at 10:00, will go on Hannity and pretty much only Hannity and will not venture out to the unsafe spaces these days, which doesn’t exactly expand the tent.”

Hannity fired back on Twitter posting that Kelly should instead be mad at Clinton, adding that Kelly wouldn't criticize Clinton because she "clearly supported her." Predictably, this set off a twitter storm along with a bevy of news sites claiming the beginning of an internal war at Fox News. Some Twitter users suggested that Hannity should stand by his Fox News colleagues, which is when he replied simply: "Sure. When they stand by me."

Somehow calmer minds prevailed and the above photo was posted on Instagram with the caption: "We're Irish. It's complicated. #friends." That said, some of those who commented on the photo weren't totally buying this latest truce - SEE HERE

REPORT: 'Howard Stern Has Now Emerged At The Center Of The National Political Conversation'

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 6TH, 2016 –– In a lengthy piece in Politico, Virginia Heffernan writes that Howard Stern has now emerged at the center of the national political conversation. It was on Stern’s show where the then non-politician Trump commented on the Iraq War; It’s “hard to be a 10” if a woman is flat-chested and called the challenge of avoiding STDs his “personal Vietnam.” There was also Trump’s assertion in 1997 that he could have “gotten” Princess Diana. “Why do people think it’s egotistical of you to say you could’ve gotten with Lady Di?" asked Stern. You could’ve gotten her, right? You could’ve nailed her.” “I think I could have,” Trump responded, uncertainly.

Following some two dozen other interviews with Stern, according to counts by Buzzfeed and others, Heffernan adds that Trump admitted at times to being addicted to Stern’s show, telling Stern during one episode that he was late to at least one “really important” meeting, because he couldn’t tear himself away from the broadcast. Trump’s run on “The Howard Stern Show” came to a close right around 2004, when he met Mark Burnett, the creator of The Apprentice.
