Jockline has confirmed that longtime producer Tommy Sablan, of San Diego's Jeff & Jer Showgram, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in addition to Jeff & Jer.

This year's event will be hosted by WCBS-FM 101.1 New York morning personality and United Stations Radio Network’s nationally syndicated host of America’s Greatest Hits Scott Shannon. News And Sports Lead The Way For Radio This Fall

7

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 1ST, 2016 –– Election Day is just days away and the effects of the final weeks of the campaign for the White House are rippling across the media spectrum. Americans are tuning in, turning on and consuming the steady stream of news and information available across platforms. This thirst for coverage of the U.S. presidential race is evident in everything from the debate viewership numbers to this month’s radio listening results for the News/Talk format.

The release of Nielsen’s portable people meter (PPM) ratings for October reveal that News/Talk stations are continuing to grow their audience, as has been the case over much of the past year. This month’s 9.9% share of audience among all listeners 6 and older is a sharp uptick from a year ago (9.1% in October 2015), and represents significant growth for the format from the summer months of June and July, when News/Talk was a full share point lower (8.9% in June). These results show a rising tide for News/Talk, with audience growth happening across the board. And while this growth is expected during a presidential election year, it’s worth noting that the 25-54 audience to the format reached its highest point this month (7.3%) in more than three years. News/Talk ranked second in the PPM markets in October, vaulting ahead of Country, Hot Adult Contemporary and Adult Contemporary. Not surprisingly, News/Talk’s audience levels are comparable to the same month four years ago when we last elected a president. However, the format’s share of audience among Millennials (those aged 18-34) is actually larger this time around. And while News/Talk is following seasonal patterns that we observe every four years, Sports radio is in the middle of its annual upswing that corresponds to one of the biggest times of year for sports fans—the culmination of the Major League Baseball season along with the return of the NFL. ON-AIR: Hot 101.5 Tampa Rebrands Morning Show; Keith Larson, Jim Barroll Exit WBT Charlotte

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 1ST, 2016 –– The Miguel Show on Hot 101.5 in Tampa is re-branding itself as Miguel and Holly on Hot 101.5! Holly O'Connor tells Jockline, "When the show debuted on Hot 101.5 in March of 2015, Cox Media Group chose to keep the continuity of The Miguel Show branding from Panama City's Island 106. As the show evolved in Tampa Bay, it became apparent that the name of the show needed to reflect what listeners were hearing through the speakers: an equal partnership between Miguel Fuller and Holly O'Connor.

7O'Connor says CMG has fully embraced and celebrated the change, as brought to the table by both Miguel and Holly. The change becomes official today, November 1st.

WBT Charlotte has parted ways with Keith Larson reports The Charlotte Observer. Larson, who spent 14 years at the station, said he was told of the decision after finishing his 9 am to noon shift. Also leaving the station is news director Jim Barroll, 63, who marked his 30th anniversary with WBT in November 2015. The station's new owner Entercom is expected to take over the station today, Tuesday 11/1.

Entercom reached an agreement with Beasley Broadcast group last month to acquire WBT, its sister station WLNK-FM (“Link” 107.9) and WFNZ-AM (“Fan” 610), for $24 million in cash.

Flo & Eddie Prepare For Trial Against SiriusXM

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 31ST, 2016 –– The latest battle over pre-1972 songs is about to begin reports The Hollywood Reporter. Mark Volman (left) and Kaylan, aka Flo & Eddie are set to take on their latest battle over pre-1972 songs. For the past three years, Volman and Howard Kaylan, original members of the 60's pop group The Turtles, have been fighting a legal battle on behalf of artists who created songs prior to Feb. 15, 1972 — the day the federal government granted copyrights to music.

Battles in New York and Florida have seen split results. Sirius is currently appealing a Turtles victory in New York. meanwhile, the 11th Circuit has asked the Florida Supreme Court to rule on an appeal to the Sirius win there. Sirius paid $210 million last 7summer to settle the issue of pre-1972 recordings with the major record labels. Soon, the duo will take on Sirius in California to determine what damages, if any, are owed to the remaining class members. The amount of damages being sought has been redacted, but is tied directly to the satellite company's local subscriber revenue.

Trial is set to begin on Nov. 15, with the final pretrial conference scheduled for Nov. 7. Daniel Petrocelli, the attorney who represents SiriusXM, also represents Donald Trump in the Trump University class action, which is set for trial Nov. 28. He had asked Gutierrez to push back the Sirius trial to January to give him more time to prepare for Trump, but the judge denied his request. READ COMPLETE REPORT HERE

[LISTEN] The Day Radio Terrified America

7

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 31ST, 2016 –– Halloween is always a night worth remembering - especially radio. Hard to believe it was October 30, 1938, nearly 80 years ago when Orson Wells aired 'The War of The Worlds from The Mercury Theater. According to inverse.com, thousands panicked, and police even showed up at the radio studio to shut it down. Mercury Theatre on Air wasn’t trying to fool anyone: several newspapers ran advertisements for the show, and there were disclaimers at the top of the show, and a few throughout.

But back then, radio was the primary supplier of information. And this was just before World War II. Radio bulletins were to be trusted, meaning if you missed the beginning of the show, or weren’t familar with the novels of H.G. Wells, you might have freaked out. It goes without saying, WOTW was way ahead of it’s time. Just for grins, LISTEN AGAIN HERE
