Envision Announces "America Weekend"

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 16TH, 2012 –– Envision Radio Networks® has announced America Weekend,
Designed to be a break from the usual brokered programming and rerun political fare of most News/Talk stations, America Weekend covers the lighter side of news and lifestyle issues facing today’s on-the-go talk listeners while maintaining revenues from paid hosts. Despite the fact that as many people use radio on weekend middays as weekday drive times, research shows that typical News/Talk stations experience greatly decreased ratings on weekends. America Weekend helps maximize ratings performance by offering an entertaining, informative alternative to low-rated brokered shows while providing an avenue to maintain or even increase revenue from paid programs. “It’s been said that ‘weekdays are for ratings, weekends are for revenue”, said America Weekend Executive Producer Kipper McGee. “However, now we’re seeing the damage that poorly rated weekend programming is causing weekday shows. Listeners are forced to find other weekend options, and increasingly are not finding their way back to the radio station.” Taking modular approach to programming, America Weekend is anchored by top-level personalities hosting three-hour blocks on Saturday and Sunday. These nationally recognized hosts will also be joined by frequent high-profile guests including celebrities and newsmakers to share their latest views and topics.

Hall of Fame's DuMont & Stern Trade Barbs Over Appearance Hype

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 15TH, 2012 –– If you've been following the news since last weekend's National Hall of Fame induction in Chicago, you of course know that Howard Stern was a no-show and that he later took to the airwaves to slam the committee for snubbing him up to now and for honoring less worthy inductees before him. According to Bob Feder's Time Out Chicago, Stern also took exception to Radio Hall of Fame chairman Bruce DuMont saying in an interview with Feder prior to the event that he hoped Stern would show up at the ceremony. Stern said his agent had already made it clear that he would not attend. He also raised question about DuMont’s authority as a broadcaster. “Who the f--- is this guy?” Stern said. “Who is he to say who should go into the Hall of Fame?” On Tuesday DuMont fired back saying “I have no need to keep the Howard Stern issue alive, but Howard’s blast of me and the Radio Hall of Fame yesterday was unfair and factually incorrect,” he said. “I want people to know who is telling the truth about when the RHOF was officially notified he was not coming and our efforts to get him to attend.” He then shared a personal letter he wrote to Stern on November 6, making a final plea for him to attend and hoping to clear the air: “I have always felt badly about the public displeasure with the Radio Hall of Fame that you have expressed, especially because I am a fan of yours and feel strongly that you deserve induction,” DuMont also said “I also admit that the induction is long overdue.” Feder joked: "Now what was that about Steve Dahl not being in the Radio Hall of Fame yet?" New K-ROCK Morning Show Ad Turned Down By Some Local TV Stations; Called Inappropriate

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 15TH, 2012 –– In what could be a case of less publicity becoming more publicity, Syracuse New York's K-Rock launched a TV spot to promote its new morning team, Hunter & Josh, but it appears at least 3 local stations want no part of it, calling the ad inappropriate. Ed Levine, CEO and President of Galaxy Communications told cnyradio.com "CNY Central has declined to run the ad, deeming it inappropriate.” Levine goes on to question the ruling: “Since the most revealing part of the commercial is a woman in a bra, it does make you wonder if the geniuses behind this decision ever watch their own networks!? Reportedly, the ABC has no objection and could begin airing during Jimmy Kimmel Live. Hunter and Josh, who are embroiled in a legal challenge from their former employer, 95X, were allowed by a judge to continue on the air with certain restrictions. Next court date is NOV. 21st.
