Actor John Cusak Planning Rush Biopic

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 5TH, 2012 –– Looks like actor John Cusack will be spending a lot of time in makeup as word from Hollywood is he's developing a movie about Rush Limbaugh and will be cast in the lead role. According to MSN, director Betty Thomas (Hill Street Blues) has been named to work on the film with production set for next year. Considering that Cusack is a well known and outspoken liberal who attended President Obama's 2008 inauguration, one might assume this film may not paint Limbaugh in a complimentary light. We'll reserve judgment until more details are released. In the meantime we look forward to seeing Cusak's transition into a Limbaugh like character. We'll also look forward to hearing what Rush has to say on today's show. Outside of Cusack’s political leanings, he's a highly respected actor whose credits include “Sixteen Candles" and “Being John Malkovich.” Of note, among Betty Thomas' credits include direction of Howard Stern’s “Private Parts” and “The Brady Bunch Movie.”

AD AGE: In Wake Of Hurricane Sandy, Radio The Only Medium That Matters

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 5TH, 2012 –– Nice to read in print, what we've known all along, that when it comes to natural disaters, radio is still the go-to guy. Calling radio, the first electronic mass media, Ad Age's Michael Learmonth wrote: It's an incongruous feeling, in an era of status updates and hashtags, how quickly and how easily the tools that revolutionized communications -- indeed, even fomented revolution -- simply go poof! And what remains is a version of 1932: families gathered around the radio, waiting for a bit of information on where to go or what to do next." "It's almost comical, said Radio Ink's Eric Rhoads. "I was watching some media and they were telling people to go to Facebook, and I thought, 'Wait a minute, when the power goes out, within 8 hours your charge is gone, your internet is out, your phone is probably out. What do you have to rely on? A battery-powered radio." ABC Radio VP Steve Jones (shown) added: "We are the original wireless communication ... We are there in the house for most people and we became a critical lifeline of information during this storm." READ ENTIRE ARTICLE HERE

WWL Host Bobby Hebert Booted From LSU Press Box For Too Much Cheering

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 5TH, 2012 –– WWL New Orlean's host and former Saint's Quarterback, Bobby Hebert (A-bear) was ejected from the LSU press box Saturday night during the LSU/Alabama for creating a disturbance during the game. That disturbance was in the form of cheering too loudly for his beloved LSU Tigers after being repeatedly warned not to do so or disturb the approximate 947 media members who were there to cover the game. As a rule, The Football Writers Association of America post signs throughout the the press box area reminding the media to behave professionally. Herbert broadcast his radio show outside Tiger Stadium before each game and has a seat in the press box during games. Beyond the ejection, he probably felt some dejection later as the Crimson Tide scored a TD in the final minute of the game to take the win, 21-17. PHOTO: WWL

DICK BUTKUS: “Maybe Ditka Wore Out His Welcome” [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 5TH, 2012 –– NFL Hall of Fame Linebacker Dick Butkus stopped by FOX Sports Radio’s Petros & Money last week and reacted to the recent comments made by former Chicago Bears defensive player Richard Dent, in which Dent blamed head coach Mike Ditka for the Chicago Bears not winning more than one Super Bowl Championship in the 1980's. Mat Smith asked: Did you see Richard Dent and what he said about Ditka, and how he felt like his head coach cost them a repeat and, maybe, wasted the prime of that dominating team in ’85?...He went after Ditka - said it was his fault, that they should have won more than one Super Bowl, and he puts it square on the shoulders of his head coach.” Butkus: "I was doing radio for the Bears during that time – the Super Bowl in ‘85 and everything else. I don’t know if it was really all Ditka’s fault. They let Wilbur Marshall go; they let a couple guys leave that team…It was a joke when they played different teams…The quarterbacks were ducking and throwing the ball out before they got the snap, for crying out loud. I mean, it was unbelievable ... I think that was the downfall more so than, maybe, Ditka. Maybe Ditka wore out his welcome too, but who knows? LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE

Swift To Usher In New Year From New York's Times Square

That's Just The Beginning

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 2ND, 2012 –– It's fair to say, there's not a bigger star right now than singer Taylor Swift. Last night it was the CMA Awards. Earlier this week she made U.S. chart history after her new album Red moved more than 1.2 million copies in its first week of release. A bit later we learned Taylor will be co-host of the Grammy nominations concert live with LL COOL J in Nashville on December 5. As if this weren't enough, Mr. Media, Ryan Seacrest, then made a huge announcement this week revealing the svelte mega star will be performing in New York City’s Times Square just before the stroke of midnight on New Year's eve. Did we fail to mention she headlined at this year's iHeart Music Festival? And if you still need more, scroll down to Popline Daily. She caught Cosmo's attention, too. Kanye who?

KROQ's Bean To Donate Kidney To Fellow Staffer

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 2ND, 2012 –– As we approach Thanksgiving, here's a story that brings new meaning to the occasion. Yesterday, Gene 'Bean' Baxter, one half of the KROQ/LA's Kevin and Bean Show shocked fellow workers and listeners by announcing that on November 13 he will become a kidney donor to help longtime CBS Radio and KROQ staffer, Scott Mason, Director of Engineering, who has been with the company in a variety of capacities since 1979. Bean, who lives in Seattle, will make the trip to Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles to donate his kidney to Scott. "I have decided to help a friend out by donating a kidney," said Bean. This is the second kidney transplant for Scott, who has had kidney problems for most of his adult life and underwent a previous transplant from a cadaver in 1999. The last kidney he received lasted about 10 years and Scott, who suffered a silent heart attack in the past year, and currently undergoes daily dialysis, calls Bean's decision a 'game changer. For Bean, it was an educational process and a decision based on math, not emotions: Scott has zero (kidneys), I have two." LISTEN TO ANNOUNCEMENT HERE

First Time In 40 Years, To Air Without Dick Clark

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 2ND, 2012 –– Admit it, seeing the ball drop in Times Square this New Years will be bitter-sweet as it will mark the first time in four decades that entertainment's first, true media mogul won't be there to help us celebrate. On last night's Jimmy Fallon Show, Ryan Seacrest announced that he will be officially taking over the reigns of the annual tradition from his beloved friend and mentor, Dick Clark who passed away in April. “This one is gonna be emotional. This is the first time in 40 plus years that we’ll be in Times Square without Dick Clark as he passed away. And he’s such a hero of mine and was a dear friend. So it will be special, celebratory, reflective, but certainly emotional.” Fallon then prodded Seacrest on who would headline and hinted “...there’s a female artist out there that’s setting records in terms of what she’s selling, recently ... And she loves a good break-up anthem.” It was then learned that Swift will join a long list of other celebrities.
