Listeners More Likely To Purchase A Product After A Personality Discusses It On Air Reveals CRS 2016 Research Presentation:

7

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 10TH, 2016 –– Edison’s Larry Rosin and Megan Lazovick presented “Ear Wars: The Listeners Speak Back” at during yesterday's 2016 Country Radio Seminar in Nashville. This year’s research study combined a 1,560 respondent online survey with listener and radio station interviews in three markets: Terre Haute, IN, Knoxville, TN, and Philadelphia, PA.

7With increasing competition from other forms of audio, this presentation urged broadcasters to instill “FOMO” at every opportunity in the broadcast day – if you’re not listening to the radio, you’re missing out. Survey data and interviews with listeners show that connection, engagement, and community involvement are all important ways for radio stations to create reasons to keep listening. We also visited top radio stations WIVK, WTHI, and WXTU to illustrate just a few of the methods stations can employ to meaningfully engage with listeners. In fact, they showed that four out of ten country listeners said they are more inclined to pay attention to commercials featuring station personalities. Nearly half of country listeners (46%) said they are more likely to purchase a product or service after a personality discussed it on the air. This compared to only 4% who were less likely. For a full presentation deck, including graphs, relevant data points, and videos is available through Custom Show at: https://app.customshow.com/slideshow/8dre9h

7“I’ve worked in Sacramento for the past 20 years, some of those at Rock Stations,” said iHeartMedia Sacramento Market President Sara McClure (R). “107.1 The Brew will be a breath of fresh air for rock fans that want more rock music in the morning, but also great rock from the 80’s and 90’s that isn’t wimpy. 107.1 The Brew really Rocks!”

“Sacramento has always been a great city for Rock music, however there has been a void in the market for a Classic Rock station focused on all the great Rock from the 80’s and 90’s,” 7stated Don Parker, SVP/Programming – rest of title. “This unique blend of music will truly give California’s Capital City a new way to Rock!”

--Alexandra Communications Inc. launched a new FM radio station in the Tri-Cities, WA market. KQFO, known as 100.1 The Oasis, is the area's first ever Adult Album Alternative station. The station is running commercial free and jock-less for now, but that will change soon. 100.1 The Oasis marks Alexandra Communications' second entry into the Tri-Cities market, having launched 101.9 Hank FM last October.

Country 105 Calgary Raises $1.65 Million For Children's Hospital

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 9TH, 2016 –– Calgary seems to be the oil and gas layoff capital of Canada and yet that didn’t stop the generosity of our CKRY-FM/Country 105 listeners during our annual Country 105 Caring for Kids Radiothon, which collected $1.67 million for children's hospital during the three-day event, which ended Friday. Country music star Paul Brandt — also a former nurse — co-hosted the fundraiser with Country 105 personalities, including its 7morning's 'Odd Squad' with Robyn Adair, Doug Veronelly and Dan Carson.

“Year after year, this community continues to inspire,” said Saifa Koonar, president and CEO of the hospital, in a statement. “It’s incredible that even in an uncertain economic climate for so many, people still show up for the kids at this hospital. It’s truly humbling.” Over 13 years, the event has raised a total of $20.9 million for the children’s hospital. “This hasn’t been the easiest year for many Albertans, and yet when it comes to helping kids – the support seems to be unconditional,” said Phil Kallsen of Corus Radio.
