Alan Burns Set To Release 'What Women Want 2017'
For the first time ever the voices of women who DON'T listen to radio will be included.
THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 10TH, 2017 –– Alan Burns and Associates, in partnership with Strategic Solutions Research, will begin releasing results of a new national study of women’s media consumption next week. The study, the latest in a series began by Burns in 2010, will profile women’s attitudes toward and usage of radio, online streamers, music and other media. “Nielsen data shows some important changes in consumption of radio over the past few years, and one of the things we probed deeply in this study is – why? What does this mean for the future? And what, if anything, can radio do about it?” said Burns and Associates founder Alan Burns.

Podcast Study Posts Positive Signs
THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 10TH, 2017 –– PodcastOne Executive Chairman Norman Pattiz and Edison Research VP of Strategy Tom Webster announced the results of a series of comprehensive studies looking at the results of advertising tests with five major national consumer brands across five different product and service categories. This first-ever study of pre- and post-campaign brand lift for podcast advertisers was conducted over the last half of 2016, and showed the significant positive impact of podcast advertising on brand recall, intent to purchase and recall of specific messaging.
Key findings from the studies include the following: · Over 60% of listeners mentioned a specific grocery brand post-campaign, up from 7% among listeners in the pre-study.
· Unaided product awareness increased from the pre-study to the post-study by 47% for a financial services product, by 37% for an automobile aftermarket product and by 24% for a lawn and garden product.
· In the post-study, over one-third of respondents had a “very favorable” opinion of an automobile aftermarket product, up from 18% in pre-study. In the post-study, 22% said they were “very likely” to consider using a lawn and garden product, up from 16% in the pre-study.
· Awareness of a specific campaign message for an automobile aftermarket product increased by 60% from the pre-study to the post-study, and for a casual dining restaurant by 76%. Edison Research conducted three separate studies in 2016 on behalf of PodcastOne to examine the effectiveness of podcast advertising for five national brands. READ MORE HERE

While continuing as program director of Top 40 WBBM FM 96.3, Cavanah recently added country WUSN FM 99.5 and relinquished direct control over WJMK. According to Feder, In the latest Nielsen Audio survey, WXRT tied for 14th place with a 2.3 percent share and cumulative weekly audience of 231,100. K-Hits tied for 10th with a 2.4 share and 299,800 weekly cume.

SYNDICATION: Salem Media Takes Chicago Talk Host Joe Walsh National
THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 9TH, 20127 –– Salem Media Group announced that Chicago-based talk show host Joe Walsh will be joining the network lineup in the 9pm to midnight ET time slot, replacing Steve Deace on February 20th. THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 9TH, 2017 –– A Miami host literally had to eat crow after losing a bet over Marlin's Christian breakout 2016 season. According to mlb.com, 790 The Ticket's Brendan Tobin stated on air that the Marlins' center fielder had no chance at reaching 20 home runs on the season, saying he would "literally eat crow" should Yelich accomplish the feat. The 25-year-old had never hit more than nine home runs in a year, with just 20 total over parts of three big league seasons. As Tobin's luck would have it, Yelich went on to win a National League Silver Slugger Award and hit his 20th homer on Sept. 21.
Yelich took part in "Crowbin: A Night of Shock and Caw" at GameTime Miami, where Tobin ate a cooked crow to fulfill the deal. Yelich told MLB.com he was surprised that Tobin actually carried out the bet and talked about the experience of watching somebody eat crow: "It looked pretty good. I didn't think it smelled terrible. I wouldn't have eaten it, but he got after it. He didn't shy away from it. Looked like he ate most of it." Tobin said, "I'm not gonna lie, my stomach's gurgling. It doesn't feel too great. I'm trying to hold it down. It's very pungent. But we got through it. I don't want to say gamey because I feel like that's overused, but I feel like if you were going to leave chicken out on your deck, spoiled, spoiled breast. That's what it would taste like. Blundell, who attempted to morph from shock jock to morning sports-radio host on Toronto station Sportsnet 590 The Fan, never delivered the ratings bump. The Fan’s program director, Cadeau, said the decision was not made because of unhappiness with Blundell. Blundell tweeted that the move was “mutual and in both our best interest to not renew.”
Dave Berry Is Leaving Capital For Absolute Radio In London - After five years on Capital breakfast, Dave Berry (R) is leaving Capital and moving to a new job at Absolute Radio. He was recently joined by George Shelley and Lilah Parsons on the breakfast show after former co-host Lisa Snowdon left, but now he’s decided not to renew his contract when it expires this year. Dave is going to Absolute Radio to do a daytime show.
BBC Radio 4 presenter Steve Hewlett told he 'only has weeks to live' - The broadcaster and media commentator Steve Hewlett has married his partner in hospital after being told his cancer treatment could not continue and he might only have weeks to live. He was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus last year. Talking to Radio 4 PM’s Eddie Mair on Monday, he said his consultant told him he had “weeks, possibly months” to live, which resulted in a wedding being “laid on by the hospital in less than an hour”.
