John & Ken Return To KFI; Meet With Black Group

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 28th, 2012 –– KFI LA's John & Ken returned to the air yesterday after being benched over remarks made following Whitney Houston's death. Representatives from the LA Urban League and other African-Americans met with John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou on Monday along with KFI GM Greg Ashlock and PD Robin Bertolucci. The LA Times reports that community activist Najee Ali said Monday he was confident that KFI would move in a positive direction to address the concerns expressed in the meeting."The station pledged to make substantive changes in diversity," he said. "They are trying to build a bridge. John and Ken really want to put this behind them and move forward. Their voices are needed in Southern California, and they have done some good things. We can't throw out the baby with the bathwater." The pair spent less than a minute on yesterday's show discussing the suspension. Kobylt said, "We're not going to talk about what happened a week and a half ago in any detail. What I said on the air and in the press statement 10 days ago still stands, and it was sincere."

Radio 1 No Longer For Ears Only; Adds Pictures And Video To It's Final Hour of Official Chart

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 28th, 2012 –– For the past several months, Jockline Daily has been touting the rise of video in radio's future. In yet another example of this reality, comes word from the UK's Radio 1 which made radio history on Sunday in The Official Chart by adding pictures and videos to its final hour. According to The Telegraph, following what was described as old fashioned audio only, Reggie Yates (shown) launched 'The Official Chart by leaning into the camera and dissing his crew for not having perked up their wardrobe for the occasion. This video inclusion is just in time for Radio 1's upcoming big free event which will include such artist will.i.am, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, David Guetta and Lana Del Rey in June. Lots of positive tweets and texts quickly followed. “It is definitely impossible to revise and watch The Official Chart,” said Yates. “Focus on your revision.” And just how convinced are we of video in radio's future? Get ready for an exclusive, Comrex sponsored 'Must See Radio,' presented by Jacob's Media's Fred Jacob at this year's Morning Show Boot Camp in Miami. More details coming soon.

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 28th, 2012 –– It's a story that happened a few thousand miles away, but it's surely to echo all over the radio world. According to destinyman.com, Fortune Maswanganyi, better known as DJ Cappuccino, was fired by Limpopo-based radio station Capricorn FM. Reportedly, he violated clause 7 of his independent contract that deals with an on-air presenter’s responsibilities in relations to Capricorn FM and announcements made on public platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. KICKIN' ASH: Chatter Continues Following Seacrest Dusting

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 28th, 2012 –– It was the talk of radio and on the internet yesterday. The infamous scene from the red carpet prior to Sunday's Oscar telecast where actor Sacha Baron Cohen's dressed in full "The Dictator" costume dumped ashes on Ryan Seacrest. Following the mishap, enquiring minds wondered if it was the real deal, or a page out of the ol' radio playbook. FB Friend Yvette Hoffman told us she thought it was ‎"ash" kickin'.... 99 Virgin Radio/Toronto's Melissa Bunting called it one of the most DVR'd moments at the show's Oscar party. So funny." Just most WMGK/Chicago's just moved to PMD Gary Spears called it "Classic. Will show up years from now. Most everyone agreed, staged or otherwise, a work of brilliance. Even Hollywood weighed in. American Idol colleague Randy Jackson tweeted, “Gotta holla at @RyanSeacrest about he and Sacha’s weird ashes later at the party.” And what did Seacrest say about it. He tweeted: “My mom always told me to pack two jackets for red carpets, always wondered why. Now I know.”

Celebrity Apprentice's Dee Snider Slams Women On This Year's Cast [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 28TH, 2012 –– The first comment out of the Twisted Sister’s mouth was, “Let me just go on record and say, ‘No it’s not right to put your daughters implants in. No man is meant to hold his daughters nipples in his hand. No!” Duran asked, “Who do you love and who do you hate on Celebrity Apprentice?” Snider responded, “Trump keeps telling us we’re boring…let’s be a bunch of John Riches and get it done and let the women fight it out…This is the worst season of cattiness, viciousness, ugliness on the women’s side. On the men’s side, everyone said ‘I’m going to be a ninja man.’” Snider also promoted a rare Twisted Sister concert this Saturday in Poughkeepsie to benefit Fallen Blue, which raises money for police officers shot while helping others while off-duty. Miguel Fuller Is Out And Open At Play 98.7 Tampa

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 28TH, 2012 –– Nice piece in Tampa Bay's Creative Loafing featuring FOM Miguel Fuller on of Play 98.7 "That Guy' Kramer Show" featuring Steve Kramer, Holly O’Connor and Miguel. The heart of the story centers on Miguel's quick ties to the local LGBT community for his openess to being the areas only openly gay radio personality. Writer Annie Murphy asked "Have you always been openly gay as a radio personality? Yes, although most other stations I worked for made it something that wasn’t really talked about. When it was brought up the typical response from the stations was, "We’ll see how it goes." With Play 98.7, it was important to me that my program director was comfortable with me being myself, an openly gay black male. He made a point of making this something that was just as important to him as it is to me. As for relaying this to listeners, he says: "I make a point of letting our audience know that being gay doesn’t make someone any different than anyone else. We all have a lot of the same issues and when it comes down to it, we are all the same." Read Complete Article Here

Seacrest Dusted By "The Dictator" [VIDEO]

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 27TH, 2012 ––– It may have been live TV, but it looked more like a scene taken directly from a radio playbook. Uber media man, Ryan Seacrest found himself on the receiving end of actor Sacha Baron Cohen's stuntage after crashing last night's Oscars in full "The Dictator" costume. There, along with guards standing at full attention (sort of), Cohen proceeds to dump an urn containing make-believe ashes of former North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il on Ryan Seacrest who was there covering the Red Carpet for E!. Cohen said it was Il’s “dream to come to the Oscars and to be sprinkled over the red carpet and over Halle Berry’s chest again.” Once he completed his mission, he was then dragged away by security. Real? Staged? Who cares. It was hilarious. WATCH VIDEO (2)

Boa Constrictor Gets Way Fresh With WCIU's Jeanne Sparrow [VIDEO]

THE MOUTH, FEBRUARY 27TH, 2012 –– Longtime Chicago radio host Melissa Forman's co-host, Jenne Sparrow, on WCIU's "You and Me Segment" found herself in a bit of tangle, and perhaps a tingle, too, as a boa constrictor got a little frisky with a Chicago morning show host on last Thursday's show. As you'll see in the linked video, as Sparrow talks reptiles, the huge boa apparently had other things on its mind as it plunged deep into Sparrow's upper torso traveling freely through her blouse and down her arm. Sparrow took it all in stride, but worrying that her top may come apart, she quickly exited back stage to avoid a wardrobe malfunction. WATCH VIDEO
