Limbaugh Takes Off For A Day; Premiere Suspends Barter Ads For Two Weeks

THE MOUTH, MARCH 13TH, 2012 –– In what was likely a much needed day off, Rush Limbaugh spent yesterday taking in a round of golf as Mark Steyn filled in. Meanwhile, his syndicator Premiere Networks sent a memo to its affiliates announcing they were suspending national advertising for two weeks. Reportedly, the ads apply only to his barter spots which are run by local affiliate in exchange for the right to air his show. This don't, however, apply to in-program commercials during its live news/talk programming. No reason was given for the moratorium, but it was likely a way to let things cool down a bit more. Since the furor was first raised following his Sandra Fluke comments, the news has been inundated by questions by regarding advertisers who fled the show and its overall impact on talk radio. Rush returns to the air today for his regularly scheduled show.

BADDABOOM: Alleged Crime Boss Rings Up The Answer's Morano From Jail [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, MARCH 13TH, 2012 –– We can only assume that accused Colombo crime-family boss Thomas “Tommy Shots” Gioeli made the night guard an offer he couldn't refuse. Early this morning he phoned into Salem's newly rebranded 970 The Answer/New York's Frank Morano overnight show. Make that a 2:30 AM call. Calling in from the Metropolitan Detention Center the alleged crime boss complained about prosecutors, mob snitches, the justice system and RICO, which he said makes it particularly hard if you're Italian. "I’m probably one of the most hated men in New York for no reason at all,” said Gioeli. Morano mentioned that if he had cop'd a plea, he'd probably be out on the streets already, but Gioell said "...I said the word tell. It's not even telling. What they do if give scripts to people and they want them to follow the script. If you match all the dots witht he government dots, you go home." In spite of the fact he's not been convicted of anything, he's incarcerated for nearly 4 years. He'll finally go to trial next week. Prosecutors are accusing him of whacking multiple gangsters. - Stock Photo LISTEN TO AUDIO

Nick Cannon: "Stern Is Going To Gain Even More Fans" [VIDEO]

THE MOUTH, MARCH 13TH, 2012 –– Former New York radio host Nick Cannon sat down with Access Hollywood yesterday to promote this season's 'America's Got Talent,' but, as expected, the interview quickly turned to, who else, AGT's newest judge, Howard Stern. "He's amazing," said Cannon. "He's already got a ton of fans, but he's going to gain so many more fans ... a whole different demographic ... because he 's doing everything that people love him for but on more family friendly TV ... and he handles people so well, you see why people open up to him so much to him on his show. He's charasmatic in a way that a lot of people may not give him credit for because he has that 'shock jock' mentality, but when you see him dealing with a 5 year old, you're going to see a whole different side of him." And are Cannon and Stern getting along so far? "Yeah, I haven't had to beat him up yet," Cannon joked. WATCH VIDEO HERE

OCCUPY THIS: KPCC's Billboard Gets Pranked By Rival KPFK

THE MOUTH, MARCH 13TH, 2012 –– You would think if you erect a billboard right next to a competitor it would get their creative juices flowing. That was the case for North Hollywood's KPCC who parked their latest billboard next to KPFK's studios. Both are listener supported, but perhaps KPFK's listeners are a bit better with brushes and spray paint. As you can see from the photo from KPFK host Lalo Alcaraz it appears a graffiti artist took time off from freeway signs to lend his talent to the station. According to Media Bistro, Neither Alcaraz or anyone from the station claim anything to do with the graffiti, but you have to believe it forced a few grins. Since the makeover, KPCC has had the billboard returned to it original appearance.

Mail Order Bride Contest Debate Lands In House of Commons

“Who would have thought a hundred years ago that in 2012 women would be able to run for election .. and be given away as prizes in radio contests?”

THE MOUTH, MARCH 12TH, 2012 –– Whoever said any publicity is good publicity may want to rethink that for a moment. The exception being when it gets discussed by one of the top government offices. Now comes word that Halifax/Q104's mail order bride contest debate went all the way to Canada's House of Commons. According to The Star, Megan Leslie, NDP (New Democratic party) for Halifax, asked Parliament “Who would have thought a hundred years ago that in 2012 women would be able to run for election, have successful careers and be given away as prizes in morning radio contests? ... A radio station is running the charmingly named “The male is in the Czech” competition, promoting a mail order bride as a prize and using damaging ideas about foreign women’s sexuality to titillate Canadian listeners,” Leslie said in the House. As Jockline Daily has reported, According to the station’s website, the Mighty Q as the radio station calls itself, and Czech-Bride.com are offering to help Nova Scotian men find their so-called soul mate, offering a flight to Prague where the winner will date “a bevy of Czech beauties, compliments of Flying Hearts International Dating Service.” In her statement in the house Leslie apologized to all Czech women and to the 50,000 Czech women living in Canada. She said: “If the bride gets here…we will make sure that she knows something else that Canadian women have won in the last 100 years: the right to a divorce.”

Bunny Ranch's Dennis Hof Wants To Advertise On Limbaugh Show

THE MOUTH, MARCH 12TH, 2012 –– While the news has been filled lately with word of Rush Limbaugh advertisers heading for the exit door, there's at least one who claims he's willing to spend $1 million on the show. Enter frequent radio guest and owner of Nevada's notorius 'Bunny Ranch, Dennis Hof. According to ONTD, he says he has a plan for Limbaugh to redeem himself by being nice to legal prostitutes. "Now is his chance to fix things. We think if he comes out now and supports the Bunny Ranch and real prostitutes--legal prostitution--it might make him look good," said Hof. Of course Hof is playing off comments made Rush's show using the "P" word. Limbaugh has since apologized, but this apparently hasn't swayed some advertisers from pulling their schedules. Limbaugh said recently to look forward to some new advertisers to join the show soon. On a hunch, we're thinking the ranch may not have been one of them.

Bertinelli Talks Wolfgang With WRIF's Mike & Drew [AUDIO]

"Without Wolfgang, There Wouldn’t Be New Van Halen Music or Tour"

THE MOUTH, MARCH 12TH, 2012 –– Actress Valerie Bertinelli, The ex-wife of rocker Eddie Van Halen, joined Drew & Mike on WRIF-FM/Detroit last week and explained there would not be a Van Halen tour or new album without their son, Wolfgang. She also touched on the backlash over Wolfgang heading out on tour instead of former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony. “You know, I loved Mike too. I thought he was a really nice guy. Still do. But the only way this tour is happening is because Eddie gets to play with his son Wolfie. Otherwise this tour wouldn’t be going on. It really wouldn’t,” stated Bertinelli. “This brings joy to Ed. That’s what he wants to do now—just have fun playing. As great as Mike is, this wouldn’t be happening if Mike was still in the band,” continued Bertinelli. “There would be no tour, there would be no album, there would be no nothing ... You’re getting to see Dave and Ed and Al play together, and I know I am a proud mom and I am a little prejudice, but my son kicks ass! I mean he is an amazing musician,” boasted Bertinelli. Bertinelli was participating as part of Envision Radio Network's Guest Services tour to promote the return of Hot in Cleveland, which airs Wednesday nights at 10 pm ET/PT on TV Land. What Air Talent Can Learn From Peyton Manning

"When we’re winning, we all believe we ARE the franchise. It’s that part of our egos that makes us good...'

THE MOUTH, MARCH 12TH, 2012 –– Following up on a piece by "Friday Night Lights' Author and Daily Beast Contributor Buzz Bissinger wrote on the classy way Quarterback Peyton Manning handled last Wednesday’s press conference after being cut by the Colts, Randy Lane consultant Brian Egan added his own ideas on what radio talent can learn from Manning. He calls it "The Manning Way. "As someone who was “cut” from my team (Mornings at WMZQ) over two and a half years ago, I wish I had Manning’s example from yesterday fresh in my mind to emulate. Did I handle everything with grace and class, like he did? I tried, at first, but I was extremely hurt, and a few times in the months that followed I bad-mouthed people who were simply doing their jobs. Time has shown they made a solid business decision. Sure, it hurts to admit that, but Peyton’s lesson yesterday makes me proud to admit it. I’ve moved on. If you’re a radio personality, there will be that day that you’re “cut” from the team. When we’re winning, we all believe we ARE the franchise. It’s that part of our egos that makes us good, and makes us want to win. Success breeds confidence, and confidence breeds more success. But as good as any of us really are-- in radio, only a handful could claim a radio career that looks like Peyton Manning’s Football career. And he just got cut. READ ARTICLE HERE

They were there to discuss the 'Cinnamon Game' phenonema. 'You would think the "Cinnamon Game" would be your typical, ridiculous frat-boy challenge. It's been around as long as stunts, like trying to chug a gallon of milk or eating 10 saltine crackers without water. But suddenly, the “Cinnamon Challenge” has found new life. There's been a surge of thousands of teens posting videos to YouTube - and they don’t realize how dangerous it can be,' says Drew. Kristin performed her own cinnamon challenge back when she was a member of G105 Raleigh's Bob Dumas Showgram. Dr. Drew replayed the YouTube clip for viewers and explained in detail the consequences. Translation: Funny to watch, but proved extremely dangerous. CHECK OUT VIDEO HERE

SNL DOES LIMBAUGH: Was The Set Better Than The Skit?

THE MOUTH, MARCH 12TH, 2012 –– This was probably too big a story for SNL to pass up and, sure enough, on last Saturday night's show, Taran Killam played a rather svelte Rush seated in a near perfect match for the infamous EIB studios (compare the two above). With the patented golden mic and blue neon lights, not to mention gold logo in background, you would have thougth for a moment they filmed it on location. And the skit? Well, the premise seemed funny, but in the opinion of JD and a few of our FB friends, the impersonation could use some work. What did you think?
