7

7THE MOUTH, MARCH 18TH, 2014 –– As you probably heard (or felt), the L.A. Area was rocked by a 4.4 earthquake yesterday. And while most social media offered a number of live TV shots of on-camera hosts ducking under their desk during the rumble, there were obviously numerous radio hosts experiencing the same effects. Among them, CBS K-Earth's Gary Bryan (R) who, as luck would have it, was in the middle of a prize give-away when the 7earthquake hit. As Bryan congratulates the contestant, she interrupts with 'Oooh, earthquake.. earthquake.. you feel that?" "It's a big one," says Bryan. Producer Brandon Castillo says "Look at the TV." The listener then says "Wow Gary.. see what happens when I win something." Castillo tells Jockline Daily "Our studios rocked real good ,but not much noise was made…. We’re in a 30 story office building and it’s on rollers…
Afterwards we took calls from many listeners to get their reactions…. By the end of the show we had the infamous news anchor KTLA’s Chris Schauble on the phone with us.. .he’s the one getting all the flack for diving under the desk! He was a great sport about it and says this is now his Facebook profile photo. LISTEN TO SCHAUBLE INTERVIEW HERE - LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE

Khloe Kardashian Pulls Plug On Interview, Calls Co-Host 'F***king Desperate'

THE MOUTH, MARCH 18TH, 2014 –– Producer Alert: If you have Khloe Kardashian on as a guest, use caution if asking about Kimmy's baby. This was apparently the case yesterday (or was it today?) when Australia's Sunrise Radio/TV co-host, Sam Armytage (R) asked the uber star about her sister 7Kimmy's bay, North West. According to aninews.com, producer Michael Pell told the paper that Khole's people were a little concerned about the line of questioning they were going to take before she came on air. And once the question was raised, KK quickly pulled the plug on the interview. The station then tweeted after the screen went dark saying that Khloe's appearance was cut short due to Armytage's line of questioning. And in true Twitter form, Khloe then fired back her own Twitter shot at Sunrise in a series of tweets calling them "so f***ing desperate." This was later followed with “Sorry KhloMoney took my phone,”
which we take to be some type of special Kardashian apology.

Widow Of Philly Radio Legend Sues Hospital For Wrongful Death

THE MOUTH, MARCH 18TH, 2014 –– The widow and family of the late E. Steven Collins (R), longtime Philadelphia host and civic leader, has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Chestnut Hill Hospital, saying its staff failed to immediately diagnose and treat the heart attack that killed him last fall, according to philly.com Their attorneys say Collins arrived at the hospital at 9 p.m. Sept. 8 with the classic symptoms of a heart attack, pressure and pain in his chest, high blood pressure, labored breathing, clammy skin and related complaints. They admit he promptly and properly received an electrocardiogram, but instead of treating Collins immediately with the standard blood-thinning and artery-opening drugs like aspirin, nitroglycerin and heparin, an emergency-room doctor ordered a drug that lowered his blood pressure so much that his heart couldn't recover. Although the hospital staff prepared to transfer him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Collins' condition worsened, and doctors declared him dead that morning at 12:09 a.m. The suit was filed by Collins' widow, Lisa Duhart-Collins. At the time of his death, Collins worked for Radio One as director of urban marketing and external relations and host of a weekly show, Philly Speaks on Old School 100.3.

[WATCH] Video Surfaces Of Infamous Golf Shot Off Model's Rear End

THE MOUTH, MARCH 17TH, 2014 –– In a story Jockline Daily first reported last week involving the 7model who's suing radio host Kevin Klein of the Playboy Morning Show after a radio bit went terribly wrong, video has now surfaced from the event. A YouTube video show Elizabeth Dickson at The Playboy Golf Finals (an amateur golf tournament in California) lying flat on her stomach with her buttocks partially exposed to holding the tee and a golf ball. She complied with the request to strategically place a golf tee between her rear cheeks along with the ball. Allegedly, Kevin Klein was supposed to act like he was going to hit the ball for a photo op', but he ended up (no pun intended) taking a swing, hitting fat (golf term for hit7ting below the ball - I swear it) and resulting in a giant purple bruise (inset) on Dickson's right cheek. She's now suing Kline and Playboy Enterprises for $500,000 plus punitive damages and claims in a copy of the lawsuit reviewed by MailOnline that she gave no consent for the ball to actually be hit and that she has suffered pain, worrying and anxiety as a result of the incident. "We're Not Utter F**heads:" Irish Host Leaves TMZ Scathing Voicemail Following Jay Z Post Dissing Dublin - [AUDIO]

7

THE MOUTH, MARCH 17TH, 2014 –– Cormac Moore and Daniella Moyles, who handle iRadio's 'Cracked' show on the Irish channel, didn't take too lightly to a recent TMZ piece on Jay Z and Beyonce who recently roamed Dublin undisturbed and prompted one of its 7reporters to say "(Jay Z) had put Dublin on the map. Taking to TMZ's message line, Cormac said “We are not complete and utter f*ckheads, consumed by the celebrity lifestyle. We like real things, like tea and craic (good times) and leaving people alone, because we’re sound ... Jay Z didn’t actually put Dublin on the map. Samuel Beckett did, James Joyce did, Brendan Behan did, Oscar Wilde did, Molly Malone, Phil Lynott…. even Bono and although lots of people actually hate him here, if you haven’t heard of him there is a strong chance you are severely mentally incapacitated ... The fact that you haven’t heard of Dublin before Jay Z means that you should read a book, get yourself educated and stop reinforcing the stereotype that all Americans are dumb as sh*t.” Touching on TMZ's Harvey Levin's comment that Dublin "will know who they are in like in fifteen years," Cormac cracks: “In 15 years Ireland will still be class, we’ll still be the best craic in the world and we will still be sound enough to let international superstars have a stroll in the Phoenix Park because we’re not d*cks like you guys.” LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE

Copper Thieves Knock Station Off The Air For 12 Hours

THE MOUTH, MARCH 17TH, 2014 — Copper thieves knocked radio stations off the air in Cowlitz County in a crime that apparently gave an apparent jolt to at least one of the thieves. According to KOIN-TV, KLOG Radio, which serves the Longview-Kelso area, was off the air for 12 hours after the copper thieves made their way down a hill to the KLOG Radio tower cutting through a fence before chopping out the copper wires. Joel Hanson (shown) with KLOG/KUKN The Wave said the thieves left behind wire cutters, which he said were “worth more than anything they could have stolen. If they got 50 cents worth of copper they were lucky.” Copper wire thieves damage the radio towers of KLOG in Kelso, March 14, 2014 (KOIN 6 News) They did far more damage than what they got away with, xand they risked their lives doing it. Police said there was evidence of a jolt when they cut into the high voltage wires surrounding the radio towers. “They probably got s7hocked pretty good, I’m guessing,” said Kelso PD Capt. Darr Kirk. “We could see there’s some electrical scorches inside the boxes. It’s a hot tower. I’m sure that’s probably why they dropped the clippers.” Police said copper wire theft is an ongoing issue because it’s hard to track. But now sellers have to show their ID, which has reduced the thefts that skyrocketed a few years ago.. This is the second time this month one of Joel Hanson’s radio station towers was hit by thieves. The Wave was off the air for five hours a few weeks ago.

VH1'S TOM CALDERONE: "..Having A Face For Radio OKAY Nowadays"

VHI Exec. Discusses Hot 97's New Show With Fred Jacobs

THE MOUTH, MARCH 17TH, 2014 –– When it comes to the power of personalities, there's perhaps no one, more zoned in than consultant, media visionary, Fred Jacobs. Following the announcement of VH1's new new reality show, “This Is Hot97,” he writes in a recent blog "We’ve come a long way from “WKRP. ... At a time when radio is often thought to be out of style, passé, and just plain open to criticism of all sorts, a major 7cable TV network is putting down some serious chips on broadcast radio. Now Hot97 isn’t your run-of-the-mill station, but what’s behind this decision, how did it come about, and what is Vh1 thinking. To find out, I interviewed the President of Vh1, Tom Calderone, a familiar name to many in radio," says Jacobs. Among the questions asked: FJ: “Why build a show around a radio station?” TC: ”It was not our mission to do a show at a radio station. We always look for bigger than life characters for our show, which the staff at that business delivers. It just happens to be at a radio station.” FJ: “At a time when the music emphasis is often on satellite, pure-plays, and playlists, radio has DJs and drama. What are you hoping to see inside the walls at Hot 97?” TC: ”It is all about the big personalities that not only play as a team for the greater good of the brand, but they also want to win for themselves. Whether it is getting the best guests, or getting the first chance to play a new track from a huge artist. Plus, the added element that these jocks are funny.” FJ: “Would you recommend that stations use webcams more a la Imus on MSNBC and “This Is Hot97?” TC: YES!!! Having a face for radio is OK nowadays. I missed my calling…..” READ ENTIRE INTERVIEW HERE

ST PAT'S DAY: The Good And Not So Pretty

THE MOUTH, MARCH 17TH, 2014 –– Among the numerous ways stations, coast to coast are celebrating St. Patrick's Day, we chose a couple of examples which went from one extreme to the other. First the good. WNOR/Norfolk's iconic Rick Rumble's helped raise $115,0070 to fight childhood cancer this weekend during “St. Baldrick’s” day. As you can see, he got the “official” haircut of St. Baldrick’s…and nobody noticed… He also shared one of his favorite pictures of all time which featured one of the children benefiting the the fundraiser. Then, moving on to the bad. At right (be warned, you can't unsee this), Greg T from neighboring Elvis Duran's Z100 morning show paid a visit to WKTU/New York's Paul 'Cubby' Bryant Show to show off is holiday costume. As you can plainly see, Leprechauns are way smaller than imagined.
