About That Missing NASH-FM Video Link From Yesterday's 'Today Show'

THE MOUTH, MARCH 20TH, 2013 –– As we've mentioned before, Jockline Daily is produced in just prior to posting. We're up at 4:00 am (most of the 7time), and typing our little fingers off until late morning. This gives us the chance to snag cool, up to the minute stories like yesterday's surprise interview on NBC's Today Show with Cumulus' Chief, Lew Dickey and newly cast, NASH-FM/New York midday host, Kelly Ford. Jockline Daily is known for its audio and video links and we didn't doubt for a minute our proactive production crew would be able to track it down. Surprisingly, even at Today's website, that particular segment wasn't posted. After a few calls, we finally connected with its show's producers who told us that , regrettably, due to some music rights issues, they weren't able to post (In the piece, clips of Lady Antebellum and others who were there for Cumulus' Nash Bash were aired). Anyway, our apologies for getting ahead of our self and asking you to go to our website for a look. We're still smarting from a few emails from a few of our readers. Hey, we were disappointed, too. But I do want to give a shout out to NBC for getting back to us quickly and for sharing a couple of stills (shown), including the one at right showing Kelly's ginormous belt buckle. Nice!

TV 1 Renews Rickey Smiley Show

THE MOUTH, MARCH 20TH, 2013 –– If you're a fan of TV One's "The Rickey Smiley Show," a show based loosely on his life as a radio morning host, you'll be pleased to know it's been signed up for another 26 episodes beginning this summer. According to AJC's Rodney Ho, The first season of 10 episodes which aired last year, opened to the biggest ratings in TV One's history, with 900,000 viewers but ratings soon fell off. In spite of this, The network believes the show still has plenty of potential. TV One's content manager, Tia Smith, calls Smiley a powerhouse, with six million weekly radio listeners, a massive brand, with plenty of appeal to the TV One target demo of black women, 25 to 54. Smith adds: "He's a truly funny guy, a tremendous person to work with," she said. Look for co-star Ray J, who plays Smiley's producer, to be featured more next season (we can see producer's smiles everywhere with this note).

HOWARD STERN: 'I'm Taking Over The Tonight Show' [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, MARCH 20TH, 2013 –– On the heels of news suggesting Howard Stern taking over Jimmy Fallon's late night slot on NBC once Fallon replaces Leno, now comes an even juicier rumor, this one courtesy of Stern who now says he's going to take over Leno's slot himself. Of course, this one may be more of a poke than a joke. As you'll recall, following the Fallon rumor, Stern said he was insulted by the notion given that Fallon doesn't make nearly as money as him. Plus, there's not way he'd ever consider doing a show that late at night. But, according to EW, on yesterday's Sirius XM show, he casually said 'I'm going to take over The Tonight Show.” He said this while addressing the Matt Lauer, Ann Curry’ departure flab last summer. He also dropped Bob Greenblatt's name, NBC’s Entertainment Chairman, saying how he told him how he’s “got to take over the show.” Given that NBC has since put the kibosh on such rumors involving Fallon or Stern, make this latest comment a moot point. Then again, a lot could happen between now and 2014. Meanwhile, Stern returns to America’s Got Talent this summer. LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE - TONIGHT SHOW COMMENTS AT ABOUT :56 MARK

Former LA Host Gets 10 Year Sentence Over Securities Fraud

THE MOUTH, MARCH 20TH, 2013 –– A former LA host who once appeared regularly on KIRN-AM was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to running a $24.4 million fraud involving fake securities. The fraud was linked to the federal Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), according to Reuters. Reports say John Farahi admitted to bilking investors by promising to buy TARP-backed corporate bonds and admitted to conspiring with his lawyer to obstruct a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission probe. In imposing the sentence on Monday, U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez in Los Angeles also ordered Farahi to repay $24.4 million to 59 victims. Farah pleaded guilty last June 7. David Tamman, 46, a former partner at the law firm Nixon Peabody, had been found guilty last November in a trial for helping Farahi obstruct the SEC probe. His sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

Cumulus' Lew Dickey, Kelly Ford Join The Today Show To Talk NASH-FM

THE MOUTH, MARCH 19TH, 2013 –– When was the last time you saw a station changing formats getting national TV coverage? Well, it happened this morning on NBC's The Today Show as they were joined by Cumulus Head Lew Dickey , Kelly Ford (both shown) and Lady Antebellum to discuss NASH-FM's recent country music descent on New York City. For Kelly, in all of her 20+ years on the air in Denver, it took her less than a few weeks in New York to accomplish something she never could before: Make an appearance on NBC's Today Show. Kelly had tipped her Denver Facebook friends by writing: "Heads up Denver friends! Coming up at 8:45 (mst) on The Today Show on 9NEWS (KUSA). In the piece, I get to talk a little about Nash FM 94.7. I'm a lucky girl to be a part of this special station. And, of course, the timing was rather nice as well since NashFM 94-7 posted its most recent ratings period with an impressive 1.6 share in NYC PPM’s released Monday.

Did Seacrest Leak 'Draw Something 2' Sequel on Twitter

THE MOUTH, MARCH 19TH, 2013 –– Did Ryan Seacrest leak a sequel to the popular social game, Draw Something? Seacrest tweeted, “I somehow convinced them to give me #DrawSomething2 first… this may be the best Mariah & Randy have ever looked (shown).” Dan Porter, CEO of OMGPOP (original owner of the game) and Zynga VP, tweeted back: “Thanks! So excited to confirm #DrawSomething2 is coming w/ new ways to draw & connect.” According to slashgear.com, Zynga owns the rights to OMGPOP and Draw Something after buying the company out for $210 million last year. Draw Something’s fame, however, began dramatically decreasing, seeing its user base drop about 7 million 3 months after it was released in various app stores. They add that Zynga hopes that by launching a new refresh to the game, it will be able to draw in its original user base, and hopefully keep them this time around. Seacrest is producing a new show based on a Draw Something and Pictionary. And, according to slashgear, both Seacrest adn Zynga see great potential in a drawing-like competition, because teams will have to compete each other, and instead of having the biggest brains or fastest reactions. The show will reportedly be airing sometime later this year. BTW, with note to slashgear story, Seacrest does not do mornings at Z100/New York.

Nienaber's April Fools Don’ts, Plus, Bert's Big Dare

THE MOUTH, MARCH 19TH, 2013 –– As radios' most creative minds begin to toss out ideas for the upcoming April Fool's day, who other than industry stuntologist, Paige Nienaber, to impart his wisdom. He says, "First off, I’ve never, nor have any of our clients, 7ever been fined. We’ve always generated a few dozen angry calls from listeners. (And that’s good. It means people are listening.) But we’ve never been slapped by the FCC, but here is what he says you need to do to play it safe on April 1st: DON'T FAKE THE NEWS or SCARE LISTENERS: You can play jokes on them, make them mad about their pets being taxed, send them on a wild goose chase to find an underground theme park; just don’t scare them. That crosses the Hoax Line ---DON'T BLAME CLIENTS: If you’re doing fake spots or fake websites (which are the best April Fools jokes because it takes it out of the hands of the airstaff and it seems less pranky), don’t mention a client, ie: our live remote at the nudist resort will feature prizes, games, free pizza and Coke. DON'T TRY DRAWING A CROWD: If you say you’re going to have Britney Spears in your parking lot at 9 am, don’t be surprised when twenty thousand people show up, trample each other and set fire to the station when they learn that it’s Britney Spears, a 93 year-old resident of a local rest home. -- DON'T FAKE CONTESTS: Never EVER give something away that doesn’t exist. You can swear on the air and play unedited versions of Amy Grant songs and you won’t lose your license. Fake a contest? You will lose your license. Paige is a regular contributor to The Morning Mouth Digital edition. REACH PAIGE HERE –––––– Most of our readers are well familiar with Bert's Big Adventure, but make no mistake, this latest adventure involving co-host, Kristin Klingshirn (shown), bares no resemblance whatsoever. Now, take a close look at Kristen's dress (like we had to to ask you to do that). It's made of rubber. Bert Weiss and fellow host, Jeff Dauler, call it their $250 'Rubber Sl*t Dress.' We have no idea why, but they are willing to buy it for Kristin and more if she wears it to the random places they think up. "It's not that bad...right," they ask. Jockline Daily knows Kristen well. Consider that dress is as good as hers!
