TOP NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Neil Fox Charged With Nine (S)ex Offenses

THE MOUTH, MARCH 26TH, 2015 –– The Magic 105.4 London Breakfast show host and former Capital FM presenter Neil Fox has been charged with nine (s)ex offences involving six people, of whom three were allegedly juveniles at the time. The Metropolitan Police announced the 53-year-old is alleged to have carried out the attacks between 1991 and last year. He will be charged with one count of indecent assault on a female aged under 14 and two counts of indecent assault on a female aged under 16. These offences are alleged to have taken place between 1991-1996 and relate to three separate victims who were juveniles at the time of the alleged offences. Neil was working at Capital FM at the time and hosting the Pepsi Chart show. In addition he will also be charged with four counts of indecent assault against a girl over 16 and two (a)exual assaults. Neil remains off-air at Bauer’s Magic Radio where he was arrested in September 2014.

Concerns For "Brian" After John Laws Reduces Caller To Tears - On Sydney Australia’s 2SM, John Laws reduced an 80-year-old caller to tears after the elderly man called to talk about being (s)exually assaulted as a child. It's not the first time the veteran jock has found himself in trouble when discussing (s)exual assault with callers, suggesting to a female listener in 2013, women who dress provocatively were “rape bait”. The call in which “Brian” revealed his ordeal at the hands of a male attacker has angered Dr. Cathy Kezelman, President of ASCA (Adults Surviving Child Abuse) who is “disappointed” at the level of ignorance shown by Laws. During the call Laws suggested "Brian", “...go to the pub and have a lemonade for God’s sake.” Dr. Kezelman said, “Announcers who receive these calls can do best by listening, hearing, validating and being empathic, and finally provide information for the caller encouraging them to seek professional support.”

GAME ON: ESPN 980's Man Cave Set To Debut Following Delay

7

THE MOUTH, MARCH 25TH, 2015 –– Following a strange turn of events a couple of weeks back, ESPN 980/Wash. DC' highly publicized new Man Cave Show is set to return AGAIN following an unexplained delay. According to The Washington Post, it will make 7its debut Monday, two weeks after it was abruptly shelved, a move which led to accusations that Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, who also owns the radio station, was seeking to kill the program to silence a well-known media critic. Adding to the drama, someone made prank calls to WTEM this month claiming to be the president of ESPN and demanded the show’s cancellation. Although a hoax, the person making them mimicked ESPN President John Skipper’s Southern drawl and knew enough about ESPN 980’s inner workings to initially convince station executives it was the real deal. The Man Cave will be co-hosted by former Washington Post columnist Jason Reid (shown) and veteran radio and TV personality Chris Paul. With an original debut set for March 16th, the morning kicked off with Mike & Mike and offered no explanation of what happened. Instead. As Jockline reported, sports rival 106.7 the Fan (WJFK-FM), had a field day with launch fail mocking the incident.

[WATCH] Host Lands Car Loaner With Nudge From Governor

7

THE MOUTH, MARCH 25TH, 2015 –– Every host alive has experienced the benefits of mentioning a product on-air, like pizza, coffee or donuts, only to have one or more local merchants come knocking at the station's door with goodies galore. Numerous others have enjoyed a loaner car in station promotion. But a Corvette? Here's the short story: According to politico.com, New Jersey 101.5 host Eric Scott was interviewing Governor Chris Christie last week and mentioned that he wasn't paid much. Christie started urging the show’s sponsor, the Lester Glenn Auto Group, to give Scott a free car. One caller recommended a Corvette, and Christie suggested something dark blue. Voila! Lester Glenn president Adam Kraushaar showed up at New Jersey 101.5 (WKXW-FM) studios and presented Scott with the keys to a brand new dark blue 2015 Corvette Stingray. Granted, it was a loaner, but some, arggggg, cried conflict and made it out to be way more than just some amazing publicity for the dealership and one heck of a short-term ride for Scott. Lester Glenn VP of operations argued that it was just a temporary loaner, “We didn’t give it to him,” he said. Alex Berkett, EVP/Townsquare Media, owner of New Jersey 101.5, also defended Scott's acceptance of the gift, calling it the result of "an unsolicited humorous comment made by Governor Christie." “Neither New Jersey 101.5 owner Townsquare Media, nor Mr. Scott, paid for use of the automobile,” Berkett told PolitickerNJ. “The car belongs to Lester Glenn Auto Group." Hats off to Townsquare for clearing the air on this non-controversial story and to all the other hosts who will likely start mentioning their love for Corvettes on future shows. Just saying.
