No Charges For Lazaro 'DJ Laz' Mendez In Fatal Boating Accident

THE MOUTH, APRIL 24TH, 2015 –– Prosecutors will not charge Hits 97.3 Miami host Lazaro “DJ Laz” Mendez in the boating accident that killed a man off Key Biscayne’s Nixon Beach. According to The Miami Herald. The accident took place in May 2014 when a 42-foot boat with Mendez at the helm got stuck in a sandbar. Ernesto Hernandez was helping others push the vessel when he was fatally cut by the engine’s propellers. On Thursday, April 23rd, prosecutors concluded that there was no evidence that Mendez was impaired from alcohol that evening, or acted with the “reckless disregard for human life” needed to prove a manslaughter charge.

“This is a tragedy, that is undeniable, but we appreciate the State Attorney’s Office reviewing the clear evidence and not compounding the tragedy by filing criminal charges where none are warranted or appropriate,” said Mendez’s lawyer, Mycki Ratzan. THE MOUTH, APRIL 24TH, 2015 –– After an extended stay with CBS Radio out west, Charese Fruge will return to the south after being named Vice President of Programming and Operations Manager for CBS RADIO's six stations in the Houston market. Fruge arrives from CBS RADIO Las Vegas, where she served as Vice President of Programming for the market. In this new role, she will oversee programming for MIX 96.5 (KHMX-FM), CBS Sports Radio (KIKK-AM), SportsRadio 610 (KILT-AM), 100.3 The Bull (KILT-FM), HOT 95-7 (KKHH-FM) and MEGA 101 (KLOL-FM). Additionally, Fruge will serve as Program Director for music stations, MIX 96.5 and HOT 95-7. Fruge has spent more than 20 years in radio both on-air and in programming with various stations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Denver, San Diego, and New Orleans.

With Fruge's move to Houston, CBS also annouced that Cat Thomas will rise to Vice President of Programming for CBS RADIO Las Vegas. Thomas takes on the lead programming role, overseeing 98.5 KLUC (KLUC-FM), Mix 94.1 (KMXB-FM), X107.5 (KXTE-FM), NewsRadio 100.5 FM and 840 AM (KXNT-FM/AM) and CBS Sports Radio 1140 AM (KXST-AM). [WATCH] Two Arrests Made Following Series Of Burglaries At Host's Home

THE MOUTH, APRIL 23RD, 2015 –– Two arrests have been made after a popular member of 104.1 KRBE/Houston's home and car were burglarized. According to KPRC TV, the teenagers were charged with suspicion of targeting a series of burglaries involving the home of Phoenix (L) a member of The Roula And Ryan Show'. They reported thieves broke into his car Thursday in the Westchase area of Houston. They struck again at his home Monday, stealing his credit card and car keys. The thieves then used the keys to break into his car a second time and took another credit card. The accused thieves could be seen using Phoenix's credit card on surveillance camera video (R). They used his cards at several other businesses, as well. One of Phoenix's credit cards was recovered in the arrest. Police are still looking for several more suspects.
