REPORT: Adele To Ink Biggest Record Deal Ever For UK Artist

7

THE MOUTH, MAY 24TH, 2016 –– Having ended the weekend with multiple awards during Billboard's annual music awards show, the british mega-star Adele will be adding to her fortunes as Sony Music is reportedly set to sign her to an appx. $132,000,000 record deal. This would make it the biggest deal ever handed to a British musician reports thesun.co.uk topping the previous record contract appx. $116 million U.S. paid by EMI to Robbie Williams in 2002. It is also the most valuable for a woman, topping Whitney Houston’s appx. $102 million from Arista in 2001.

A source at Sony told The Sun, “We’ve secured Adele, who’s without a doubt the biggest music star in a generation. This is massive.” Adele is already worth appx. $124 million, according to this year’s Sunday Times Rich List. But that will more than double when she inks her new deal. She was already Britain's richest female artist before signing this newest contract. “The deal is being worked on by our Columbia label in the US and gives Sony the rights to release her future music. In addition to her new mega deal, her fortune will soar even higher this year thanks to earnings from her sold-out 105-date tour.

iHeart Debt Ruling Expected Early This Week

THE MOUTH, MAY 23RD, 2016 –– A lawyer for iHeartMedia said the company has been harmed by the threats of default notices that started early this year reports The San Antonio Express News. The judge’s verdict, which is expected early this week, will either allow a group of bondholders to file default notices against the company or 7block the creditors from pushing the company to the brink of bankruptcy.

“There’s a disagreement in the interpretation” of the bond rules, iHeartMedia lawyer Kevin Huff acknowledged. The conflict arises from iHeartMedia’s transfer Dec. 3 of 100 million shares of its billboard subsidiary, Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Inc., from a holding-company subsidiary to another subsidiary. Darren Davis (shown), president of iHeartMedia’s networks, said the company is missing business opportunities because of uncertainty caused by the news of default notices. He added that the company has lost contract opportunities because it cannot hire hard-to-find technology talent it needs to run its operations.

The company has said in SEC filings that if it does not receive the permanent injunction it seeks to block future default notices, it will have 60 days to take actions to avoid bankruptcy that would follow if an avalanche of debt repayments from many other bondholders is triggered, possibly totaling more than $15 billion. One of those options is moving the 100 million shares back to the control of the bondholders. Battle Intensifies As Sumner Redstone Ousts Former Confidants

THE MOUTH, MAY 23RD, 2016 – Sumner Redstone has removed Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman and Viacom board member George Abrams from the seven-person trust that will determine the fate of both Viacom and CBS in the event of Sumner's incapacitation or death, reports Reuters. The move gives his daughter, Shari Redstone (shown), who is also on 7the trust and vice-chair of both CBS and Viacom, more certain control to determine the fate of her father's $40 billion media empire.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that Viacom board members had been blocked from seeing the elder Redstone. According to cnn.com, a spokesman for Dauman called the steps "illegal and invalid" in an e-mailed statement to Reuters. "They are a shameful effort by Shari Redstone to seize control by unlawfully using her ailing father Sumner Redstone's name and signature. As she knows and as court proceedings and other facts have demonstrated, Sumner Redstone now lacks the capacity to have taken these steps," the spokesman said. "Sumner Redstone would never have summarily dismissed Philippe Dauman and George Abrams, his trusted friends and advisors for decades." Abrams and a spokeswoman for Shari Redstone did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment. Sumner Redstone and Dauman have worked together for more than 30 years, and Redstone has called Dauman "a great friend."

Trump Reaches Out To Milwaukee Host With Handwritten Note

7

THE MOUTH, MAY 22ND, 2016 –– Could this be a glimpse of the more 'presidential' Donald Trump? Charlie Sykes, popular host on Milwaukee's WTMJ, got an unexpected handwritten note from presumptive GOP nominee candidate. It was written with a “magic marker,” and sprawled across the front page of the New York Times. As you'll see in the closeup, it says: Charlie — I hope you can change your mind. Look forward to doing your show. I WILL WIN.

7Sykes makes note of article's headline: "Once Against, Another Flank Of G.O.P. Warms Up to Trump." Sykes writes in rightwisconsin.com, The story recounts how some social conservatives who had spent most of the past year "opposing and condemning Trump, are now moving to embrace his candidacy..." Sykes calls the photo at left "my "DEWEY BEATS TRUMAN" pose."

"Okay, so I didn't see that coming. Not sure he really wants to do my show again, but he seems to be opening the door. Interesting. Perhaps we are in the midst of a Trump Charm Offensive. Despite the fact that Trump has publicly called me a "lowlife" and a "dummy," I do appreciate the outreach. (Mr. Trump is apparently willing to be more gracious than his legions of Trumpkins.) But, still #NeverTrump. PHOTOS/Courtesy of Charlie Sykes

STUDY: Podcast Listening By Adults Doubled In Past 5-Years

7

A Nielsen Scarborough study found that podcasting consumption is increasing with the number of adults listening to podcast during the past month doubling over the past five years. But who’s listening? What are their areas of interest? These questions are explored in their "If You Create It, Will They Come? Nielsen Scarborough found that podcasting consumption is on the rise with the number of adults 18 and older listening to a podcast during the past month doubling over the previous five years! But while anyone with a smartphone or a computer can become a podcaster, building a loyal audience is where the challenge begins. And with so many platforms vying for the attention of the consumer, selecting the right content is the key to success.

Nielsen Scarborough examined the lifestyles and behaviors of podcast listeners to identify the types of content that engaged these consumers and kept them coming back for more. Who Listens? The study found that podcast listeners are equally male and female, with the majority (70%) being between the ages of 18-44. They are 39% more likely to be single, 44% more likely to be a college graduate and 33% more likely to be employed in a white collar occupation. With an average household income of $83,700, podcast listeners exceed the national average by about $12,000.

As media consumption continues to shift more to on-demand and advertisers wanting to reach consumers must go beyond age and gender, knowing lifestyle and interests are critical to reach the right listener. So “yes,” they will come, but only if you fill your podcast with the right content. Methodology Podcast listeners include adults 18 and older who watched, listened to or downloaded a podcast on any device during the past 30 days. SEE MORE DETAILS HERE
