[WATCH] Former LA Host Pleads No Contest In Body-Shaming Incident; Gets 3-Years Probation THE MOUTH, MAY 25TH, 2017 –– In one of the first cases of its kind, a former Playboy model and LA Radio host, Dani Mathers (inset), was sentenced to 3 years probation and community service in the highly publicized 'body-shaming' photo case. It involved a photo she took of a nude 70-year-old woman in the shower of at a gym locker room and posted it on social media. On Wednesday (5/24), Mathers pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor. In addition to her probation, she was also ordered to perform 30 days of community labor, likely doing graffiti-removal work, according to the City Attorney's Office. This is the first case of its kind prosecuted by L. A.'s City Attorney and one of the first cases in the nation. Mathers, 30, sparked a firestorm of criticism when she posted the photo on her Snapchat account in July 2016. The picture showed the naked woman from behind, with Mathers' head turned away from the camera, with the message, "If I can't unsee this then you can't either." Shortly after the photo was posted, Mathers apologized, writing on her Twitter account, "I'm sorry for what I did. I need to take some time to myself now to reflect on why I did this horrible thing."" In another, she indicated that she did not mean to post the photo publicly, only send it to a friend. PROGRAMMING: John Farneda Tapped As MD At WXRT Chicago THE MOUTH, MAY 23RD, 2017 – CBS Radio Chicago has appointed John Farneda to the position of Music Director for WXRT-FM. Farneda has been working in this capacity on an interim basis since early April. This marks a return to the station for Farneda began as a public affairs intern for WXRT midday host Terri Hemmert in 1983 and shifted to Assistant Music Director under then Music Director and current WXRT morning host Lin Brehmer in 1985. He was subsequently promoted to Assistant Program Director/Music Director of 93XRT in 2001. After returning to work on Monday, he told listeners on Boston's AMP 103.3 morning show, "Last week you may have noticed we were in replays for the majority of the week. Unfortunately, I have some very sad news to share. While wife Jess who was nearly 9-mos. pregnant, we lost our baby." Last Tuesday TJ said that his wife called to say she was worried because she couldn't feel the baby move. TJ packed up and rushed to the hospital, but since this had happened a couple of weeks before they weren't as alarmed. He added, 'We still don't know why it happened. [LISTEN] 'The Streets Are Silent, Eerie, Ghost Town-Like,"Reports Manchester Radio Reporter By Graham Mack THE MOUTH, MAY 24TH, 2017 –– Local radio in Manchester swung into action as soon as the news of the bombing at the Manchester Arena came in at the Ariana Grande concert. They spoke to callers in the area and are still actively involved passing on information to and from police and emergency services. Loved ones of those who are missing have been appealing for information directly on the air. Heart FM is encouraging local people to give blood. 59 people are still being treated at six hospitals around Greater Manchester. Amy Scarisbrick (inset), a reporter for Manchester’s Key 103 was at the scene. She told Key 103's Darryl Morris on air how it felt in Manchester in the hours following the incident, "The streets of Manchester are just silent, eerie, ghost town-like," she explained. She went on to say how she witnessed a controlled explosion on a suspicious item which thankfully turned out to be 'abandoned clothing' on Cathedral Garden.
