Iconic LA Host 'Rodney On The Roq' To End Show On KROQ After 40-Yr Run; 'But It's Not The End'

THE MOUTH, MAY 26TH, 2017 –– Following an amazing 40-year run on KROQ Los Angeles, “Rodney on the Roq,” Rodney Bingenheimer announced on Facebook that he will be doing his last sho7w from midnight to 3 a.m. PT on Monday, June 5. “It has been an amazing run, and I will be thanking all of you when I say goodbye to KROQ next week. I am planning on some special callers and special music as I say 7a proper goodbye.” Since 1976, Rodney on the Roq” was among the first to launch music from a number of now-famous talent including Katy Perry, the Sex Pistols, Blondie (shown right, along with 1979 photo with Joan Jett), Duran Duran, Sublime, and Red Hot Chili Peppers reports Variety,. Although it’s unclear why he is leaving the show, Rodney adds, “I may be done with KROQ, but I am not retiring,” he said. “I hope you continue to join me on that journey. John Cleese & Graham Mack Nominated For New York Radio Awards; Germany To Ban FM Only Radios

They include John Cleese for “Best Audio Book” for his autobiography, “So Anyway..” and Graham Mack from BOBfm who has been nominated for “Best Radio Personality: Local Market”. Graham won Bronze in this category in 2013. The New York Festivals International Radio Awards will be announced at Manhattan Penthouse on Fifth Avenue on Monday evening, June 19, 2017.

Germany To Ban FM Only Radios - In Germany, the Federal Minister of Economics and Energy, Brigitte Zypries, has presented a draft amendment to the country's Telecommunications Act, which will forbid FM-only radio receivers. The amendment would stipulate that "high-quality audio receivers" may only be sold if they can receive digital (DAB+ and internet) signals as well as 7analogue FM. The amendment also requires mobile phones sold in the country to have multi-standard chipsets, able to receive both FM and DAB+. According to the EBU, just 3.4% of total radio listening in Germany is to DAB. Almost all major AM broadcasting has already ceased in Germany.

[WATCH] Former LA Host Pleads No Contest In Body-Shaming Incident; Gets 3-Years Probation

THE MOUTH, MAY 25TH, 2017 –– In one of the first cases of its kind, a former Playboy model and LA Radio host, Dani Mathers (inset), was sentenced to 3 years probation and community service in the highly publicized 'body-shaming' photo case. It involved a photo she took of a nude 70-year-old woman in the shower of at a gym locker room and posted it on social media. On Wednesday (5/24), Mathers pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor. In addition to her probation, she was also ordered to perform 30 days of community labor, likely doing graffiti-removal work, according to the City Attorney's Office.

This is the first case of its kind prosecuted by L. A.'s City Attorney and one of the first cases in the nation. Mathers, 30, sparked a firestorm of criticism when she posted the photo on her Snapchat account in July 2016. The picture showed the naked woman from behind, with Mathers' head turned away from the camera, with the message, "If I can't unsee this then you can't either." Shortly after the photo was posted, Mathers apologized, writing on her Twitter account, "I'm sorry for what I did. I need to take some time to myself now to reflect on why I did this horrible thing."" In another, she indicated that she did not mean to post the photo publicly, only send it to a friend.
