BUSTED: Fox's Chris Wallace Caught Talking On Cell During Radio Interview

THE MOUTH, JUNE 15TH, 2012 –– 97.1 /St. Louis' (Jamie) Allman In The Morning got an interesting interruption during yesterday's interview with Fox TV's Chris Wallace. As he and Allman talked politics, Wallace interrupted Allman saying: “Jamie, I’m going to have a problem here. I’m talking to you on a cell phone and there’s a police man here and I probably shouldn’t have been talking on a cell phone. So, uh. I’m about to get arrested. Good-bye.” Shortly afterwards, some sites reported that he had actually been arrested, but that fortunately turned out to be not true. According to Mediaite, they reached out to Fox News and confirmed that he was not arrested. LISTEN TO AUDIO (After 1:00 mark)

The Robert Murphy Connection To Launch Of Mark & Brian

THE MOUTH, JUNE 15TH, 2012 –– With this week's news of longtime KLOS LA's Mark Thompson's decision to retire from the Mark & Brian Show, a barrage of stories began circulating regarding this closure, but it's interesting to note their actual beginning and who the players were with that pairing. Many have pointed out, correctly, they were originally teamed at WAPI by then PD Mark St. John. Prior to that, however, was Bernie Dittman group PD, Randy Lane, who got a tip from then Q101/Chicago host Robert Murphy, aka Murphy in the Morning, regarding an intern on his show who was an improv player at Second City named Brian Phelps. Randy Lane told Jockline Daily "I loved Brian's comedy and talked to him about coming down to Birmingham to co-host the morning show on I95. Mark St. John knew Mark Thompson from Montgomery, AL. so we flew them to Birmingham and put them on the air at 1AM to see if they had any chemistry. It was magic from the first moment they
cracked the mic. It sounded like they must have done mornings together in another lifetime!" As for their introduction to KLOS, you might be surprised with their matchmaker. There's even a west coast PD who still has the original audition tape. Keep guessin.'

DMX Offers Advice To Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg [AUDIO] STRONG LANGUAGE

THE MOUTH, JUNE 15TH, 2012 –– As Jockline Daily reported earlier this month (JD 6.4.12), Hot 97 Peter Rosenberg (shown) sent the hip-hop world into a frenzy by dissing on Nicki Minaj's new single "Starships" in a pre-summer jam stage event. This led to the mega star bolting from show and creating a buzz that's still humming along. Yesterday, rapper DMX joined Rosenberg and was asked for his advice in handling all the criticism. DMX was quite succinct in his advice: "F--- em', "F--- em', "F--- em'" And that was just the beginning. LISTEN TO AUDIO CAUTION: EXTREMELY HARSH LANGUAGE - LISTENER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

Radio's Catherwood Says He'd Join DWTS' All-Stars For The Right Price

THE MOUTH, JUNE 15TH, 2012 –– As radio's first and last contestant on season 12's Dancing With The Stars, Kevin & Bean/Dr. Drew cast mate, Mike Catherwood is apparently open to dancing back to the ballroom for its all-star edition so long as there's nice check to go with it. He told Celebuzz, “I don’t want to go back, but if they pay me, yes. Money is a huge motivator.” The hunky radio host who first caught TV producer's attention with his appearance on 'Regis & Kelly's Men of Radio Week, has made numerous appearances on various shows since then, the latest being Fox's 'The Choice. Added incentive for Mike's return to DWTS, may be dancing partner Lacey Schwimmer who seemed to have an extra special good time during their short time on the dance floor. Speaking of which. With Catherwood being season 12's first celebrity to get dumped, how does that translate into an 'All-Star?" Either way, expect to see a lot of Mike on TV soon.

7JACOBS STUDY: Younger Women Count Facebook As Main Source of Communication

THE MOUTH, JUNE 15TH, 2012 –– Jacobs Media’s AC/CHR/HotAC findings have been released and the findings are quite eye-opening. In the tech study of core radio listeners, more than 14,000 fans of 36 AC, CHR, and Hot AC stations across North America sound off on technology and broadcast radio, it reveals an amazing progression from the younger CHR listeners to the more mature but very active Hot AC fans to the adult partisans of traditional Adult Contemporary stations. According to Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs, this combined sample is made up of 80% females who tell a great story about their deepening relationship with technology and how it impacts their radio listening. This group is among the most avid users of social media in the entire survey, utilizing Facebook as main source of communication. Of those on Facebook, more than three-fourths of CHR fans use it daily. And Twitter is becoming a key social media channel. The good news is that partisans of AC and CHR are more likely to start their day by turning on the radio at home. But there’s a virtual tie among Hot AC fans between the radio at home and turning on the TV, another sign that morning shows on television are doing a good job capturing first tune-ins when these consumers start their days. CHR fans are among the heaviest in-car listeners, while half of them (and Hot AC respondents) are able to connect a mobile phone or mp3 player in their cars. And of those with “digital dashboard” systems like Ford’s SYNC, Mainstream AC listeners are the most likely to have cut back their broadcast radio listening as a result. Capturing the attention of these consumers while they're driving will be an ongoing challenge moving forward. For more details, CLICK HERE

Shake Ups In Wake Ups: Thompson Retires; Jeffreys Joins KFOG; Zakk Is Back In Chicago

THE MOUTH, JUNE 14TH, 2012 –– After 25 years, Mark Thompson, one half of the beloved KLOS morning duo, Mark and Brian, has decided to call it quits and make North Carolina his permanent home. In an interview yesterday with LARadio's Don Barrett, he said at his new house on Lake Norman (near Charlotte) he has a studio and he’ll be available for occasional work, but he’s ready to quit doing the two person show. He said he made the decision about a year ago under GM Bob Moore and PD Bob Buchmann, but waited until Cumulus started to show interest. "We had a three-year plan to slowly transition from California to there," Thompson said. "Once the moving truck moved the last of his belongings, we finally were at the end of our three-year plan. We're here. We now live in North Carolina," said Thomson. In the meantime, Phelps plans to continue in mornings. ––––– In other morning shakeups, after just two weeks, KFOG San Francisco pulls the plug on Tony Longo, part of the just launched, Tony, Greg and Melanie morning show. Prompted by a social media backlash, PD Dennis Constantine went on the air yesterday morning to confess "it quickly became obvious that the show we created wasn't a good fit for KFOG. So I am here to tell you that we made a mistake." Filling Longo's spot will be longtime bay area host Tim Jeffreys who most recently handled mornings at KUFX. Reportedly, Longo will return to his morning show at Z-ROCK/Lexington, KY. ––––– The final major market move happened in Chicago, where Zakk Tyler returned to the Loop. He'll also be heard on Merlin Media FM News 101.9 MHz, New York City and FM News 101.1, Chicago to handle sports. 1

GLOVES OFF: Stern To Jim Rome "Have You Stopped Beating Your Wife Yet?" [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, JUNE 14TH, 2012 –– Things turned ugly yesterday during Jim Rome's interview with NBA commissioner David Stern. The CBS Sport's Network host asked him if the New Orleans Hornets winning the draft lottery was fixed. "I know that you appreciate a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy .. was the fix in for the lottery?" asked Rome. An obviously stunned Stern replied: "I have two answers for that. The simple, easy one, NO; the second, shame on you for asking." Rome countered by saying he thought it was his job to ask because people wonder. "No, it's ridiculous, but that's OK," Stern said. He then quipped: "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" Rome, who has not history of spousal abuse, answered saying "I don't think that's fair." Stern later called Rome's comment a cheap trick. "You've been successful in making a career of it, and I keep coming on." "Making a career of it? Making a career of what? What? Cheap thrills?" demanded Rome. "Now you're getting mad. You're taking on the world and now Jim Rome is pouting," Stern jabbed. Rome fired back:"I'm not pouting. I'm taking offense." LISTEN TO AUDIO

THE MOUTH, JUNE 14TH, 2012 –– MSNBC's Chris Hayes was on WFLA/ 970 AM Tampa Bay yesterday morning to promote his new book. You'll recall that Hayes came under fire on Memorial Day for his comments suggesting that some soldiers killed in battle shouldn't be called heroes. He later apologized, but that still wasn't enough for Tedd Webb, a military vet, and he called him out on his show. "If I can get away from the book for a minute and take you back to Memorial Day. I was the guy that wanted to reach across the TV and slap the dog crap out of you," said Webb. He later added: "I think you're a piece of scum." Hayes tried explaining his comments saying he takes his platform seriously and decries the kind of conversation where people use that platform to call people scum. Sarcastically, Webb then changed the term to "pond scum." LISTEN TO AUDIO

How Gene Simmons Finally Came Clean With His Wife Shannon Tweed [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, JUNE 14TH, 2012 –– KISS rocker Gene Simmons, with an assist from Envision’s Guest Services, joined Arch & Elliott Morning Show on WLVQ-FM/Columbus yesterday and discussed how he finally revealed his past indiscretions with a broken-hearted Shannon Tweed. We had a ceremony, we lit a big bonfire, and we took the photos and we threw them in and burned them together. And, uh, we’re approaching our 29th year together." LISTEN TO AUDIO

Ron James, morning host of Wild 102.9 caught wind of the story and wanted to help.
