Kerri Kasem To Move Forward With Elder Abuse Claim Against Stepmom

THE MOUTH, JUNE 18TH, 2014 –– For those wondering if the family feuding between Kasem's older children and their stepmom, Jean, would finally end once Casey passed away, apparently not. According to The New York Daily News, Casey Kasem’s eldest daughter, Kerri, has a date with Santa Monica Police next Monday to file a formal elder abuse claim against her estranged stepmom, sou7rces tell the Daily News. Following this report came word that a private investigator claiming Kasem’s widow, Jean Kasem, was cheating on her husband before his death. Jean is also accused of disconnecting her husband's feeding tube and loading him into an SUV in May, despite warnings that he could die, according to signed statements from doctors obtained by the private investigator. Logan Clarke said he has evidence Jean Kasem has been romantically involved with a 40-something Canadian man known as “JP” who allegedly lives at the Kasems’ Malibu condo and regularly drives the late host's black SUV. “I have witnesses who have seen them kissing,” Clarke told NYDN on Tuesday. “I can prove the relationship goes back at least four to six months.” Kasem, 82, died at St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, Wash., early Sunday after battling his advancing disease and sepsis in recent weeks.

iHeartRadio Crosses 50 Million Registered Users Mark

CEO Bob Pittman Says It Now Brings In 'Hundreds of Millions" In Annual Revenue

THE MOUTH, JUNE 18TH, 2014 –– iHeartRadio announced that it has surpassed 50 million registered users. iHeartRadio reached this milestone in just three years -- faster than any other streaming music platform and even faster than Twitter and Facebook. This figure does not account for the millions of users who listen to the service's live radio functionality without registering, indicating that the app's total reach is even greater. "Less than three years ago Clear Channel launched the new iHeartRadio with the goal of reinventing the digital radio experience and reimagining the boundaries of broadcast radio," said Bob Pittman (shown), Chairman and CEO of Clear Channel. In just three years, it has reached nearly 70 percent consumer brand awareness and has become a leading brand among digital streaming services. The app has more than 345 million downloads across a broad spectrum of platforms 7and has amassed 15.4 billion social impressions across its signature events. AP reports Pittman said in an interview that iHeartRadio makes "hundreds of millions" of dollars in annual revenue, putting it in the range of Internet radio leader Pandora. "We're in the hundreds of millions, not billions," Pittman said. "IHeartRadio would be a very valuable company on its own. In the grand scheme of things, it's an extension of the other businesses we're in." Last September, Clear Channel reached a deal with the Warner Music Group Corp. to share ad revenue from traditional radio stations for the first time with artists in order to secure lower royalties on the digital side. As part of the deal, they also promised to promote their artists more regularly. Pittman said there's no pressure to cut more such deals and noted that they currently create more expenses than benefits.

[WATCH] Rusty Humphries Relives Awkward Moment When Filming Kasem For 'Jockumentary'

“Hello, Rusty. This is Casey. Rusty, I saw the video … It looks great … but you can’t use me.”

THE MOUTH, JUNE 18TH, 2014 –– Great piece in this week's Washington Times by longtime radio host, Rusty Humphries with a early Morning Show Boot Camp connection. Back in '91 (Don Anthony) asked Humphries, then an executive with TM Century/Dallas, if he would be interested in doing a video piece on radio hosts beyond the studio. To our delight he accepted the challenge and, along with a high school friend, produced a top notch video called ”Radio In America: The Jockumentary.” Among the personalities included Rush Limbaugh, Mancow Muller, Kidd Kraddick, Scott Shannon and many others. I recall Rusty being blown away by getting a call back from Casey Kasem who joined on the video as well, but it wasn't without a 7couple of bumps. As Rusty explains in the article "He could not have been any nicer, and agreed to be a part of my video if I came out to Hollywood -- We arrived at Casey’s studio in Hollywood at the scheduled time … and that’s when things got a bit odd. My photographer got his camera set up and shot a bit of “white balance.” That’s where you show the camera what white is, to help it record colors better. Immediately, a producer comes out of nowhere screaming at the top of his lungs to delete what we had recorded. “Uhhh, OK … it was just the white on the bare wall,” we explained. When Kasem finally came out of the studio the first thing he said was, “Are you going to shoot my pants?” “Your pants? I don’t think so,” I said. “Well, I think I’ll go change my pants,” he declared, and walked down the hallway to go change. About 10 minutes later he returned and asked, “Where’s the makeup artist and lighting crew?” To be honest, I hadn’t even thought about those things ... When I told him we didn’t have a makeup team or lighting crew, he grew quite annoyed but agreed to continue. After about five minutes of a very uncomfortable interview, I tried to change to mood in the room. The video was done, and it looked great ... After sending the tape to Kasem, he got a call back saying “Hello, Rusty. This is Casey. Rusty, I saw the video … It looks great … but you can’t use me." "Uhhhh, Casey, what didn’t you like?” I asked. “How many lighting crews did you get for Rush Limbaugh?! What did you spend on his makeup?!” he yelled. “Casey, we used the same thing on Rush as we did you .. He then calmed down and said something I still can’t believe to this day. “All right, here’s what we’ll do, I’ll pay to fly you and your cameraman back to Hollywood. I’ll get my makeup person and light crew, and we’ll do it again at my house. How does that sound?” Rusty said that weekend we traveled to his house. Waiting for me was a $5,000 check, a makeup artist, and a lighting crew. SEE FULL STORY HERE

Univision Executive Implicated In Los Angeles Ratings Scandal

THE MOUTH, JUNE 17TH, 2014 ––  Nielsen has uncovered evidence in its Los Angeles ratings scandal that a Univision radio executive has allegedly been manipulating the ratings. On Monday, Nielsen confirmed that the scandal was larger than the company first thought following a tip from a radio station insider. “Subsequent to last week’s announcement about the delay in Los Angeles PPM Radio data, Nielsen has learned that a media affiliated household participated in the Los Angeles sample," Nielsen said in a 7statement. After first denying the allegation, Univision now acknowledges that it has terminated the programming executive who worked at its popular radio station KSCA-FM/101.9. The executive, who remains unnamed, apparently had access to several Nielsen "people meter" measurement devices. Jose Valle, president of Univision Radio, said in a statement. "We commenced an investigation and took immediate action by terminating the employee based on our findings," Valle said. "We are cooperating fully with Nielsen. Nielsen said it plans an "impact analysis" to figure out the extent of the problems. The company also plans to discuss with radio stations in Los Angeles how many months of ratings data it will need to scrutinize and perhaps revise.

[LISTEN] Scott McKenzie Takes Leave From Show Following Return Of Cancer

THE MOUTH, JUNE 17TH, 2014 –– MIX 105.1 Orlando's Scott McKenzie explained that since March, I had been losing weight, feeling “off,” getting weird sensations in my abdomen, and having trouble sleeping. By May, the occasional bad day was becoming a more regular occurrence. The fun and laughs of the morning show could help me forget how poorly I was feeling until 10am, but the rest of the day was becoming a real concern. I had a regular check-up set for June, but it was becoming clear that I couldn’t wait. I’ve battled non-Hodgkins lymphoma twice before and had just had an “all clear” exam in February. So when the tests came back just as we were ready to leave for a family getaway, we were surprised to learn that, not only had my cancer returned, but it had taken over any available space in my belly and was pressing to make more room. I guess I’m not known for having tight abs, because when the doctor felt how firm I was, he immediately ordered tests. Because the disease was on the move, we had no choice but to trade the hotel stay for a hospital stay so I could get the needed round-the-clock chemo for 4 days. Instead of a three-day weeken7d, it’s been a three-week sick leave. The great news is that the first treatment has already backed that thang up (sorry to go all Juvenile). My appetite is back and my stomach feels like the Pillsbury Dough Boy again. And now that enough red and white blood cells have returned, it’s time to knock them back again with another assault of chemo. As we all know, you gotta get up to get down (sorry to go all Coolio). So that’s where I’ve been and where I’m going back to for a short time. Now that the CT is out of the bag, I’ll keep you updated regularly on how I’m doing, and give you my thoughts along the way.
