Radio Unites For 'One Love Manchester' Broadcast In Wake Of London Attacks

7

THE MOUTH, JUNE 5TH, 2017 –– Along with a crowd of over 50,000 convened at the Old Trafford cricket ground for Ariana Grande's 'One Love Manchester’ Benefit Concert, millions more were able to share the experience via radio worldwide. As Jockline reported last week (6/2), The UK's Capital Radio Network was among the first to announce plans to simulcast the 7event. This was followed by numerous other stations in the region including BBC 1, 2, 5 Live and BBC Radio Manchester hosted by Scott Mills, Jo Whiley, Phil Williams and Becky Want, plus Eagle Radio. The event also aired over various platforms in over 50 countries including Brazil, Germany, China and Australia and streamed-across-5-continents. Here in the states, 7iHeartRadio issued a release announcing plans to carry the concert. "iHeartRadio stands in solidarity with Manchester and will help spread One Love Manchester’s message of love and support by broadcasting the benefit live across more than 130 Top 40 and Contemporary Pop stations, as well as digitally on iHeartRadio’s Hit Nation.

7Emotions ran high as the concert opened amid news of seven people being killed and nearly 50 injured after three men drove a van into a crowd on London Bridge and set upon people in a crazed knife rampage reported The Daily Mail. Despite the atrocities, droves of concert goers came in clothes emblazoned with the slogan, 'We stand together'.

Mumford and Sons' Marcus Mumford (R) was the first to take to the stage, asking for a minute's silence in tribute to those who have lost their lives in the last fortnight, including the 22 victims who died in the bombing at the Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena. The Manchester event featured live performances from Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams, Take That, Niall Horan, Little Mix, Robbie Williams and Black Eyed Peas.

SNAPS: Bleachers Perform At iHeart New York Theater During Album Release Party

THE MOUTH, JUNE 5TH, 2017 –– Along with a Q&A hosted by 104.3’s on air personality Jonathan Clarke (R), The Bleachers performed new songs from his album, Gone Now, available today via RCA Records. 7Fronted by his four-piece band, Jack Antonoff (L) kicked off the nine-song set with "I Wanna Get Better," the lead single from Bleachers' 2014 debut album, Strange Desire.

Asked if he works better with female collaborators, the singer who has worked with the likes of Lorde, Julia Michaels and Carly Rae Jepsen said, "I think the music industry is pretty weird and a lot of men have [this] 'Let's crush the world' feeling. I get that question a lot, so I think about it. Sometimes I write in the falsetto octave, so maybe it works for that reason. I grew up with sisters. I don't know, but there's a pattern there and I'm fine with it.” · PHOTO CREDIT: Rachel Kaplan for iHeartRadio.
