Man With Ax Surrenders To SWAT Team After 3-Hour Standoff Outside KISS 108 Boston - Wanted ICP's 'My Axe' Played

7

THE MOUTH, JULY 11TH, 2017 –– In what may go down as one of the strangest song request ever, an unidentified man wielding an ax was taken into custody Monday following a three-hour standoff with police outside KISS 108's Medford's studios. in Medford. Witnesses and station employees told WHDH TV that the man went there to request the song “My Axe” by Insane Clown Posse. After police arrived, things turned tense forcing them to use a stun gun, which proved unsuccessful. The man then locked himself in his car and began tossing several sharp-edged items at police. The man finally exited the car and surrendered to police leaving the scene in an ambulance. Witnesses said the man likely suffers from a mental illness. No injuries were reported are charges have been filed. The man’s name was not released but police said he is 38 years old.

Dylan Sprague, SVP Programming iHeartMedia Boston, tells Jockline "Everyone is safe! The guy actually never entered the building, let alone our studios as was reported. We found out about the request thing as the whole thing was unfolding outside. He never called in or made contact. Crazy day no doubt. But all ok." Sprague also confirmed that KISS 108 doesn't play ICP.

[LISTEN] Gov. Chris Christie's WFAN Audition Opens With 'Sports Radio Gold'

THE MOUTH, JULY 11TH, 2017 –– Gov. Chris Christie's audition on WFAN New York got off to a rousing start yesterday thanks to one of the show's regular caller, Mike from Montclair. Christie caught heat right from the start from “Mike from Montclair,” a frequent caller to the station. According to mediaite.com, it was 90 seconds of sports radio gold.

7

“Governor, next time you want to sit on a beach that is closed to the entire world except you, you put your fat ass in a car and go to one that’s open to all your constituents,” Mike said. “Interesting, Mike,” Christie said. “What’s that, Gov?!” Mike fired back. “You know, Mike,” Christie said. “I love getting calls from communists in Montclair.” “You’re a bully, Governor!” Mike said. “And I don’t like bullies!” “You’re swearing on the air, Mike. You’re a bum!” Christie said to his constituent.

Christie is auditioning for the afternoon slot on WFAN, held for nearly the last 30-years by Mike Francesa. Among the many tuned in was apparently Matt Drudge who, contrary to mediaite's 'radio gold' descripted placed the story as his top headline: 'Christie 'Talk Radio Trainwreck.' Something tells us today's show could draw a Christie-sized rating's spike - PHOTO/screengrab - LISTEN TO EXHANGE HERE

Houston Host Matt Patrick Has Passed Away

He Told Listeners On Wednesday He Was Ending His Treatment For Esophageal Cancer

THE MOUTH, JULY 9TH, 2017 – Popular Houston host Matt Patrick passed away on Sunday, July 10th. He told his listeners on iHeart's 740 KTRH this past Wednesday that he would no longer seek treatment for esophageal cancer that he had been fighting since 2015. Patrick was 58. Having just celebrated his sixth anniversary this week of his arrival in Houston, he decided to announce the news to his listeners on his anniversary (7/5). In a release, it stated that Michael's true passion in life was not behind a microphone, but 7rather being quietly at home with his family was most important." According to the Houston Chronicle, he is survived by his wife and "best friend of 15 years" Paula and his children, Jake, Alexandra Ryan and Alanna Ryan.

Longtime friend and associate, Cumulus' EVP/Programming & Content Mike McVay said, "Matt Patrick was an amazing talent who I had the pleasure of consulting and coaching while he was the morning personality at WKDD/Akron. This was before the station was moved to a Canton signal and 96.5FM was shifted to Cleveland as WAKS Kiss-FM. When he moved to talk and to Houston, he reached out to me, and we spoke about his transition. What to expect. What to do. How he was always suited for talk. He was a true professional. He was the epitome of a showman. He was a character. He was always entertaining. He was connected to the community and the Mayor was a frequent guest on his morning show. He was a good man. He was a good human. We’re all poorer today because we’ve lost Matt Patrick."

Claude Hall, The Man Who Coined The Term 'Easy Listening,' Passes Away

THE MOUTH, JULY 10TH, 2017 –– Longtime Billboard Radio/TV Editor, Claude Hall, credited with coining the term Easy listening in 1965 while describing the sound of WPIX-FM in New York. Joey Reynolds, now on WABC, but who spent 15 years on 710 WOR, said, "I would not be legendary if this man had not created an 7image of rebelliousness and lefant terribe' in his Vox Jox columns for Billboard magazine which he authored in the 60's. As radio had no common ground Claude single handedly, with the help of his publisher Lee Zhito, cleverly asked us to pay money to meet each other to find better jobs, exchange war stories, eat and drink together in a community which was war torn by payola scandals so we gathered at the Plaza Hotel in NY with sessions conducted by Dr Wayne Dyer and Geraldo Rivera, Wolfman Jack, Imus, Howard Costello, all of these incredible talents with crazy personalities in a glamorous setting at the finest hotel in NY back in the day."

Claude Hall's son Andy wrote on Facebook, Claude died this morning (7-7-17) at 12:02 am at Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas after complications from a fall earlier in the week. His family was with him and loved him dearly. He loved his friends, students, and colleagues. He remained proud of radio and music stemming from his days listening to radio as a kid. He sent out his obit by accident in February of 2016... But this time... He has joined the radio waves he so treasured. He was proud of his books that he wrote.... Which he would like you to read.... Available on Amazon Kindle. We are planning to have a memorial luncheon in his honor in the near future." Claude is survived by John, Darryl, and Andy and a grand daughter Maxcy Hall. Two brothers and a sister previously passed on.

Taylor Swift And Former Denver Host David Mueller Face Off In Court In Less Than A Month

Swift To Donate Any Money To Charities Aimed At Protecting Women From Sexual Assault If Court Rules In Her Favor

7THE MOUTH, JULY 10TH, 2017 –– Taylor Swift is set to appear in person at a courtroom in Colorado for a trial, scheduled to begin on Aug. 7 for nine days. The case involves the much publicized lawsuits between former KYGO morning co-host, David Mueller who was fired from the country outlet after a member of Swift’s security team claimed that Mueller had grabbed her bare buttocks underneath her skirt during a pre-concert meet-n-greet photo. He sued Swift and some members of her team in September 2015, and Swift filed a counterclaim later calling Mueller’s claims that it was another KYGO employee who actually touched Swift’s buttocks “specious” and called for a jury trial to settle the allegations.

Last May Jockline reported that Judge William J. Martinez issued a summary judgment denying Mueller’s tort claims that Swift and her team had slandered him, but upheld the rest of both suits. Swift and handfuls of witnesses have been deposed in the case, and there are hundreds of pages of testimony, documents and photos that have been submitted as evidence reports ABC affiliate Channel 7/Denver. Her attorneys have argued in documents filed in the past two weeks that Mueller purposely 'spoiled evidence' relating to the case several times, including recordings he made with his bosses that fired him. Swift has said in the past that if the court finds in her favor, she’d donate any money to charities aimed at protecting women from sexual assault. The trial is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 7. SWIFT PHOTO/Ovidiu Hrubaru / Shutterstock MUELLER PHOTO/Steve Hostetler
