Tony Bruno Leaves Top Rated WIP/Philly Show; Denies Issues With Co-Host

THE MOUTH, JULY 9TH, 2015 –– Top-rated WIP Philadelphia host Tony Bruno says after 45 years of pursuing his dreams and climbing the sport radio stairs to the highest rungs, the format and industry in general no longer provide him with joy and satisfaction, even after reaching number 1 in pm drive, thus; is parting ways with WIP and retiring from radio. Bruno, who has not been on the air for several days, said he would now focus on his podcasts.

Regarding speculation that his departure may have been linked to issues with his co-host Josh Innes, he wrote at his website, "First off, I did not quit in haste because I “hated” or couldn’t work with Josh Innes. That is totally untrue. Josh and I have never had any arguments or confrontations during or after any shows since day 1. REPORT: Facebook In Talks To Launch Music Streaming Service

THE MOUTH, JULY 9TH, 2015 –– Music Ally has revealed that Facebook is in the early stages of talks to launch of an audio music-streaming service to compete with Spotify, Apple Music and others. Sources tell Music Ally that talks for the music-video side of things are at an advanced stage, with a rollout expected to happen in the next few months. They add that an audio service is very much on Facebook’s roadmap, but that both the social network and rights-holders realize that it has to get the monetized-video service right first.

Music Ally has approached Facebook, all three major labels, indie licensing agency Merlin and collecting society PRS for Music for comment. None were prepared to respond either on or off the record. Cumulus Brings First “All Sports, All The Time” To Colorado Springs

THE MOUTH, JULY 9TH, 2015 –– Cumulus Media has launched Southern Colorado’s first radio station offering “All Sports, All The Time” – the new Xtra Sports Radio 1300 AM/KCSF-AM. The new station will feature syndicated shows such as Dan Patrick, Jim Rome, Doug Gottlieb, and a stable of great hosts from CBS Sports.

NETWORKS: Boomer Esiason Pitches Radio To The NFL Following New Data

THE MOUTH, JULY 9TH, 2015 –– Pierre Bouvard, Chief Marketing Officer for Cumulus and Westwood One, released never-before-seen Nielsen research about Westwood One's exclusive NFL coverage showing the NFL On Westwood One Reaches 1 out of 5 men 18-49 in America. Bouvard says 'We've never known how audience accumulates during a game and across the season. Radio audiences are only reported for average weekly estimates. We never see how radio audiences build over time. Among the findings, the NFL reaches 6 million listeners (persons 6 and older) in the first weeks of the season -- unique reach soars to more than 21 million over the course of the season. Once the playoffs heat up, NFL coverage attract 5 million new, unique listeners.

THE MOUTH, JULY 9TH, 2015 –– Tom Deacon And Emma Jo Sign For Capital Mornings - Tom Deacon and former KMFM presenter Emma Jo Real-Davies are joining Capital South Coast for breakfast. Tom was most recently doing radio at FUBAR and was previously on BBC Radio 1. Emma Jo has just left her first radio job at kmfm to join the Global station. They replace Paul Gillies & Emily Segal who disappeared suddenly last month from the show, which Paul had hosted since 2007.

Chris Moyles is making his radio comeback by replacing Jon Holmes on XFM Breakfast from September. British newspapers the Independent, the Mirror, the Telegraph and more, say the deal is signed. Jon Holmes has been making on-air jokes about being out of work soon. Chris is also reportedly heading to LA for networking before his new show starts which suggest that XFM will be on SIRIUS XM from September.

Free Radio In England Makes An All-Pregnant Girl Band - Free Radio’s pregnant breakfast show presenter Roisin created a band of mums-to-be to sing at a festival. The idea happened on-air when she spontaneously announced during the JD and Roisin breakfast show that she wanted to form a band after Free Radio Coventry & Warwickshire was offered a spot as official partners of the Coventry Godiva Festival. “Roisin and the Contractions” performed on Sunday sharing the bill with acts such as Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Embrace, and The Wombats, attended by 125,000 people. They did a pregnant mash-up of Baby Love, All The Pregnant Ladies, Nice Nice Baby and Push It. ‘Roisin and the Contractions’ are Amee Sandhu (26 weeks pregnant), Ronnie Tilman, (30 weeks pregnant), Roisin Gibbons McCourt (due in the next few weeks), Cara Pickering (29 weeks pregnant), Samantha Unsworth (16 weeks pregnant).

[WATCH] Host Rushed To Hospital After Possible Seizure On Air

THE MOUTH, JULY 8TH, 2015 –– Get well wishes go out to our longtime friend and popular Z88.3/Orlando morning show host Ellis B. Feaster who experienced a medical emergency yesterday while on the air. "I realized after a few minutes, I've got gibberish coming out of my mouth, I'm saying something up here, but that's not what's coming out of my mouth." Now doctors believe he suffered a possible seizure while on the air according to Fox 35.

Feaster, co-host of the Feaster & Tyler Show on Z88.3 Mornings spoke with the TV outlet on Tuesday from A Florida Hospital, where doctors are running tests. "There's no major problems they say, but we still have a few more tests to go, but I just thank God we've made it to this point and I'm still here," he said. Feaster says he's very thankful to all of his coworkers at Z88.3 who came to his rescue. During the fall, Feaster busted his lip on the floor which you'll see in the linked video. Feaster posted on Facebook this morning that he expects to leave the hospital today.

Judge Rules Lawyers 'Orchestrated' Drunken Driving Arrest Of Schnitt Attorney In Schnitt/Bubba Trial

THE MOUTH, JULY 8TH, 2015 –– In perhaps one of the most publicized trials ever, involving rival radio hosts, a Pinellas judge found Tuesday (7.7.15) three lawyers in the law firm that represented Bubba the Love Sponge Clem, “deliberately and maliciously” orchestrated the drunken driving arrest of an attorney representing Todd Schnitt. According to The Tampa Tribune, County Circuit Judge W. Douglas Baird found Stephen Diaco, Robert Adams and Adam Filthaut guilty of all but one of the ethics charges filed against them by the Florida Bar.

Baird has scheduled a sanctions hearing for Aug. 6 and 7. That hearing will provide a forum for the parties to present case law and argue for appropriate sanctions. By Aug. 31, Baird will issue a report to the Florida Supreme Court with his recommendations. “Then,” Walker said, “it’s up to the Florida Supreme Court,” which has the final say on the case. The three members of the Adams & Diaco law firm were accused of setting up C. Philip Campbell’s (shown bottom) drunk driving arrest the night of Jan. 23, 2013. Campbell was representing Todd “MJ” Schnitt in his slander suit against another DJ, Bubba the Love Sponge Clem. Greg Kehoe, a Tampa attorney who represents Diaco in the bar proceedings, said the attorneys on trial don’t believe the ruling is supported by the evidence and testimony. “We will be appealing to the Supreme Court,” he said. 1

Denver's Smokin' 94.1 Knocked Off The Air By Hackers

THE MOUTH, JULY 8TH, 2015 –– Denver’s first marijuana-themed station was victimized by computer hackers on Monday night. According to CBS/Denver, KBUD Smokin’ 94.1 owner/on-air Marc Paskin, aka Gary Ganja, says the hackers "came in and hacked our computer. They took out all our music, imaging promos and comedy segments,” he said. By Tuesday the station back on the air.

The incident follows a complaint filed with the Federal Communications Commission from a competing radio station about its radio tower signal strength. The complaint asks the FCC to take Smokin’ 94.1 off the air until a dispute over territory can be settled. “I believe that we’ve built up a huge audience in a month and it could disappear tomorrow. Of course we are fighting for our life here," says Paskin. He added that since flipping the station from sports, he hasn’t changed the signal strength. Meanwhile, no word from The FCC on the station's content.

BILLBOARD: Apple's Beats 1 Radio Looks Like A Hit

THE MOUTH, JULY 8TH, 2015 –– Billboard's Glenn Peoples writes that while Apple may have a tough time selling people on the music subscription side of Apple Music, "it's having a far easier time getting them to listen to old-fashioned radio." He adds that Beats 1, the free radio station built into the Apple Music app, has turned out to be a surprise hit."

Along with lavish praise from the tech community including The Next Web saying it's "exactly what radio should be," Billboard examined 155 tweets dated July 6 with the #Beats1 hash tag and measured their content for positive, neutral or negative sentiment. The results were overwhelmingly positive: 83.9 percent of the tweets expressed positive sentiment; 6.5 percent expressed a neutral sentiment; 9.7 percent expressing a negative sentiment. A number of tweets showed happiness that Zane Lowe had returned to radio since leaving BBC for Apple. And the praise came worldwide. Billboard saw messages from Germany, France, Austria, Ghana, Sri Lanka, Colombia and Puerto Rico. Negative sentiment mostly focused on the type music heard such as too much hip hop and Apple's decision to play clean versions of songs.
