[LISTEN] Rush Celebrates 28th Anniversary On EIB

5

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 2ND, 2016 –– "Folks, today we are starting our 29th year, said Premiere syndicated host Rush Limbaugh on yesterday's show. "This is our 28th anniversary being behind the Golden EIB Microphone." Rush added, "I actually feel blessed to have been able to do my lifelong dream. I mean, I wanted to be on the radio from age 8. And not only have I been blessed to be able to do it, but I truly have been blessed by having people like you as the audience. Because it's people like you that have made it all happen, made it possible. And I am aware of this daily."

And even after 28 years, Rush still thinks about each day's show on the way home, wondering it it was good as it could have been. " I go home sometimes feeling guilty that I had some really good stuff and didn't get to just because of the way things fell out in the day. And one of the things I have to constantly remind myself, is I know what I've got here. I mean, I know everything I've got as a result of the show prep that resulted in the show being put together here, but you don't. SEE FULL TRANSCRIPT HERE

Howard 'Really, Really' Wants Hillary Clinton On His Show; "I Don’t Give A f--- About Emails And Scandals"

5

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 2ND, 2016 –– His interviewing skills have been the recent subject in two separate lengthy articles in both The New York Times and The Washington Post. In both, he offered an appeal to Democrative Presidential hopefull Hillary Clinton to come on his show."I don’t give a f--- about emails and scandals," he says. "I don’t think I’d handle Hillary Clinton any differently than I would a musician," Stern told the Wapo's Geoff Edgers. "You think about politics. Who really would want to go through this scrutiny and the torture and the criticism? Now we see it on Twitter. Everyone’s getting bullied. But politicians have been getting bullied forever and I’m not so cynical. I certainly don’t believe that a young person goes into politics with the idea, I’m going to get rich. I think there is a desire to serve."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stern's people have reached out to the Clinton campaign, but so far, no luck. "And it would expose her to an audience that might not be thinking of voting for her," Stern told the paper. He adds that politics is not his thing. "‘Wow, as a human being how do you succeed?’ Don’t we all need to know how to succeed. This is a phenomenal story."

RoverFest 2016 Draws 20,000 For Annual Festival

5

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 2ND, 2016 –– RoverFest 2016, the annual festival thrown by syndicated radio show Rover’s Morning Glory, drew more than 20,000 people to Black River Landing in Lorain, Ohio on Saturday, July 31. For nearly 12 hours Rover fans chugged beer, snapped photos with the show, and took in musical acts including Chevelle, Ludacris, Bush, New Politics, and Jim Breuer and the Loud & Rowdy. Rover also held his annual Miss Morning Glory Calendar search, and put on a huge fireworks display. The show has always billed the event as a “party” instead of a concert, and is proud of the unique fusion of entertainment the day provides.

“We’re a talk show, on rock stations, that puts hip-hop artists on the bill every year,” said Rover. Cleveland-native rapper and actor Machine Gun Kelly, currently starring in Showtime’s Roadies, stunned the audience with an unannounced performance that had him hanging upside down from the stage roof. “Machine Gun Kelly and I set it up the night before over the phone,” said Rover. “He didn’t tell his people and I didn’t tell mine. We were the only two people who knew. The crowd went nuts!” The event has turned into the must-attend event of the summer, with Rover’s Morning Glory fans making the pilgrimage to Cleveland from as far away as Los Angeles, Louisville, New York, and even Australia. For those that could not attend the sold-out event, live video and audio of the entire festival was streamed on the show’s website at www.RoverRadio.com and on the RoverRadio mobile app. The stream attracted more than 350,000 views and served more than 3 million viewer minutes live.

LAWNEWZ: Glenn Beck Suing Former Blaze CEO for Fraud, Breach of Contract

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 1ST, 2016 –– Radio/TV host Glenn Beck has filed a lawsuit in a Texas court against the man who used to run his entertainment and news network, TheBlaze. The complaint, obtained by LawNewz.com, was filed on behalf of Mercury Radio Arts, which serves as Beck’s production and operating company over TheBlaze‘s outlets. The complaint accuses Christopher Balfe of breach of contract, general mismanagement, breach of fiduciary duty, and fraud. Balfe served as the COO of Mercury Radio Arts and was CEO of TheBlaze until he left in December 2014 to start his own company, Red Seat Ventures.

5On Monday, Beck issued a brief statement on his website confirming the lawsuit. “You have all heard me over the last couple of years describing how hard a time it has been,” Beck wrote. “Between being sick, turning over my company, etc… It culminates in a lawsuit that we filed Friday in Dallas between MRA and the former President." He added, “I am embarrassed and saddened it has come to this.” Beck told his audience he will not speak about the “ongoing legal matter” much, but wanted them to “hear it from me” first. Citing “sources close to Mr. Beck,” LawNewz.com reported the legal complaint alleges between 2009 and 2014, Balfe’s compensation totaled in excess of $13 million” and accuses the former boss of “fraudulently causing Mercury to sign an unnecessary lease thereby taking on a $20 million liability.” “The lawsuit seeks to recover all money paid to Balfe since he allegedly breached his duties to Mercury, as well as Balfe’s interest in TheBlaze,” the report added.

Station Owner & Radio Host Call Mother's Lawsuit Claims 'Untrue'

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 1ST, 2016 –– After being named in a lawsuit last week, both Townsquare Media and KLAQ-95.5 FM morning host Buzz Adams say the anti-maternity leave allegations made against them by a former co-host are untrue reports The El Paso Times. Townsquare GM Brad Dubow e-mailed a statement to the publication last Friday, stating, "While we can’t comment on pending litigation, the statements made by Stephanie McMasters (L) are untrue," he wrote. "The truth about Ms. McMaster’s termination will be fully 5revealed in court. Townsquare Media, and KLAQ-FM, absolutely support working mothers and care about providing them with the time they need to care for their newborn as well as continued support for raising their children while working."

Stephanie McMaster-Berning, aka Stephanie McMasters, alleges in the lawsuit that she was fired in March, a month before the birth of her baby, because the station did not want her to be on maternity leave during the spring ratings. McMaster, is suing morning show host Buzz Adams and Townsquare Media, the parent company of KLAQ. Adams, named in the lawsuit as Michael Whitt, commented on his show last Friday's saying he couldn't talk about the specifics of the lawsuit filed against him and the station, but said, "I can say there are a lot of accusations made against me, and the things that are directly targeting me, I can tell you, because I was there when it didn't happen, that they're false ... There's no truth to these allegations. The things that are accusations against me, my behavior or my character, I can tell you 100 percent, that if I go before a judge or a courtroom setting, I'll tell them, 'Not true,' " Adams added. "So whatever you're reading, there's my response." Adams on air Friday said he would not have said anything about the lawsuit if the station's corporate managers had their way. PHOTOS/ KLAQ

iHeartMedia New Hampshire Becomes Karlee 107 For Rochester Girl

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 1ST, 2016 –– iHeartMedia New Hampshire became “Karlee 107” last Friday, and remained there until Sunday night in honor of Karlee Drew (L) from Rochester, who lost a long battle with cancer at the age of ten on Saturday, July 23. Everything from the station logo to the identifiers between songs and even the website will become “Karlee 107.” The station also featured music from Justin Bieber, her favorite artist—whom she met just a few short months ago. Karlee first came to the attention of Z107 when her campaign to meet Justin Bieber at his Boston show caught the eye of Z107 Program Director & Afternoon host Jadd Naamani (below).

Jadd and Z107 spearheaded the #JustinMeetsKarlee campaign on air and through social media. In just a few short hours, an overwhelming response from the public caught the attention of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Karlee received tickets to the show, 5a limousine ride to the concert---and a very special meeting with Justin Bieber. “It was a no-brainer for Z107 to join the community’s effort for Karlee to meet Justin,” said Naamani.

The health issues began for Karlee in 2013, when she was diagnosed with Myelodyplasmic 5Syndrome (MDS) and Myelofibrosis, a serious bone marrow disorder that disrupts the body’s normal production of blood cells and results in extensive bone marrow scarring. These symptoms lead to fatigue, severe anemia and often an enlarged spleen and liver. After undergoing chemotherapy and her first bone marrow transplant in February of 2015, Karlee was in remission until September, when she began to show symptoms again. Late 2015, Karlee received word that her MDS had turned to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a type of blood cancer more difficult to fight. Again, Karlee underwent chemo and her second bone marrow transplant, however this one was unsuccessful.

Kyle & Jackie Extend With KIIS For $40 Million

5

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 1ST, 2016 –– As a certain presidential hopeful may say, this story is YUGE down-under as Kyle Sandilands and Jackie "O" Henderson have signed on to KIIS FM for another five years, with contracts worth at least $20 million each over five years, including fees, incentives and revenue share. According to smh.com.au, since launching KIIS 106.5, in 2014, the Kyle & Jackie O show has held No.1 ratings more times than any other Sydney breakfast team. In June last year, they were reportedly offered $12 million to return to their former home of 2Day FM, which then soared to $20 million this year. They left the network in 2013 after contract negotiations failed and were made an offer of $10 million from their rival Australian Radio Network to join KIIS FM, formerly Mix FM.

"There was never a doubt in my mind KIIS was our home for the long haul, because I made it! It's my baby," Sandilands said about the historic contract. "Jackie and I are still doing what we love and doing it better than ever." ARN's chief executive Tony Kendall said: "Kyle and Jackie O are worldwide stars themselves and have been an integral part of KIIS 1065, and indeed ARN's, growth over the past three years and they will continue to be instrumental in the station and company's success. "And it's not only the radio ratings that Kyle and Jackie dominate. Kyle and Jackie O's fan engagement extends to a social reach of over 2 million active followers, more than 1.9 million monthly video streams and 1.5 million monthly unique users on the KIIS website.

35 Years Ago Today, MTV Was Born

'It wasn't enough to sound good' says Lenahan, "suddenly bands had to be hypersensitive to their visual image" USA TODAY'S Jim Lenaham

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 1ST, 2016 –– Back on Aug. 1, 1981, the term VJ was added to the media vernacular as MTV, the channel that played music videos around the clock, made its debut. As USA Today's Jim Lenahan points out, "plenty scoffed at the concept of a radio station on TV — built on a 5new art form, the music video, but to young GenXers, it quickly became after-school appointment viewing." MTV's original VJs included (from L-R) J.J. Jackson, Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Martha Quinn and Alan Hunter.

For the first time, 'It wasn't enough to sound good' says Lenahan, "suddenly bands had to be hypersensitive to their visual image — whether that meant shooting videos in Sri Lanka, a la Duran Duran, or playing up their oddball looks, such as ZZ Top. Radio at the time was largely programmed by Baby Boomers, but MTV broke new and more cutting-edge bands. That's because few music videos even existed at launch. The form had already taken hold in Britain, so much of MTV's initial inventory consisted of new wave bands from across the Atlantic. Check out a Spotify playlist called "MTV: First 24 Hours,' HERE
