Charles Osgood To Retire From ‘CBS Sunday Morning,' Will Continue To Be 'Seen' On Radio
THE MOUTH, AUGUST 29TH, 2016 –– After nearly 50 years as host of 'CBS News Sunday Morning,' 'Charles Osgood announced Sunday that he will retire late next month. According to The Wall Street Journal, Osgood will be bidding farewell on Sept. 25. The edition will be a tribute to his legacy on and off “Sunday Morning.” Osgood, however, said he would make occasional appearances on the weekly program.
“For years now, people—even friends and family—have been asking me why I continue doing this, considering my age,” said the 83-year-old Mr. Osgood. “It’s just that it’s been such a joy doing it.…It’s been a great run, but after nearly 50 years at CBS…the time has come.” No successor has been named. Among those under consideration reportedly are “Sunday Morning” colleagues Jane Pauley, Anthony Mason and Lee Cowan. Meanwhile, the program continues to be a ratings leader. With a year-to-date audience of nearly 6 million viewers, it consistently tops rival Sunday morning news shows.
Meanwhile, Westwood One reports, "The good news is that Charles will still “see you on the radio” Monday-Friday! The Osgood File continues as always, four times a day, five days a week, on some of the most influential news, talk, and information stations nationwide. 97.5 The Fanatic Philly Suspends 3 Following Fake Caller Controversy
THE MOUTH, AUGUST 29TH, 2016 –– In the wake of last week's revelation that longtime Mike Missanelli caller 'Dwayne from Swedesboro, a black stereotype who turned out to be a white producer, The-Fanatic 97.5 Philadelphia owner Greater Media has suspended three employees for three days. They include Program Director Matt Nahigian (L), Assistant Program Director, Jason Myrtetus (C) and Producer Pat Egan (right) reports philly.com.
All three maintain that Missanelli had no clue that “Dwayne from Swedesboro” was a character created and voiced by Egan. It was reported that Egan created a Twitter profile for character, using the photo of a black friend, Nosike Onyemaobim (left).
On his show last Tuesday, Missanelli said he was “sensitive to the racial undertones involved” and thought the character’s racial stereotypes might have pushed “racial bounds.” All three will be able to return to the station Wednesday.
PROGRAMMING: iHeart Names Michael Saunders PD For 93.7 The Beat Houston
THE MOUTH, AUGUST 29TH, 2016 –– iHeartMedia announced that radio veteran Michael Saunders has been named Program Director for 93.7 The Beat KQBT-FM in Houston. In addition, Saunders will serve as Urban Brand Coordinator for iHeartMedia’s National Programming Group.
Saunders joins iHeartMedia Houston from Star 94.7 WCFB-FM in Orlando, where he has been Program Director for the past five years. He also previously served as Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Detroit and Program Director for iHeartMedia’s Power 105.1 in New York City. In addition, Saunders’s extensive background includes serving as Operations Manager for CBS Radio’s Washington, DC market, Program Director for WJHM-FM in Orlando, Vice President of Client Services for the Left Bank Organization in Los Angeles and Operations Manager and Program Director for WPEG-FM, WBAV-FM and WGIV-AM in Charlotte. He began his radio career as an on-air personality for WGCD-AM in his hometown of Chester, SC.
Changes At Entercom San Diego Programming
THE MOUTH, AUGUST 29TH, 2016 –– A series of changes is being reported by Entercom San Diego Programming Department. sandiegoradio.com says Greg Raneiri (bottom left) has added KSON FM Music Director duties in addition to his current air-shift (7pm –Midnight). Gene Knight adds KXSN FM Music Director duties in addition to his current air-shift (2pm- 7pm).
Both have signed multi-year agreements and we couldn’t be more pleased says Entercom's Chris Turner. KXSN PD Brooks O’Brian (bottom right) will now also join the Sunny 98.1 air-staff as Interim Morning Host as she simultaneously sheds her KSON MD duties but retains her APD status on KSON.

Current WRKO - AM Sales Manager Alison Harris has been named to the same position at sister station WAAF - FM, while Denise Di Luca, VP of Sales for iHeart Media in Providence, has been chosen to replace Harris at WRKO. WAAF is Boston’s legacy rock radio station spanning five decades in the format, while WRKO is one of the country’s heritage stations for topical talk. Before joining WRKO in June, 2015, Harris was VP of Sales for Clear Channel Outdoor in Washington, DC and Baltimore. Bubba Lawyers Permanently Disbarred Over 'Shocking' DUI Setup During Defamation Case
THE MOUTH, AUGUST 26TH, 2016 –– The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday (8/25) ruled that two attorneys should be permanently disbarred for their roles in setting up the drunken-driving arrest of an opposing lawyer during a high-profile case reports news4jax.com. Justices unanimously supported the disbarment of Robert D. Adams and Adam Robert Filthaut, who were with the Tampa firm Adams & Diaco, P.A. in January 2013. At the time, they were defending Bubba the Love Sponge Clem in a defamation lawsuit filed by former crosstown host Todd Schnitt. Adams, Filthaut and a third member of the firm, Stephen Christopher Diaco, took part in a scheme to set up a DUI arrest of one of Schnitt's lawyers, Phillip Campbell, according to the Supreme Court.
"The misconduct leading to the disciplinary actions against these three attorneys is among the most shocking, unethical, and unprofessional as has ever been brought before this (Supreme) Court," the 13-page ruling said. Diaco agreed earlier to disbarment, according to the ruling. The set-up took place on Jan. 23, 2013 while the case was in recess for the night. READ STORY HERE
