THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2012 –– We're not joking, grab the tissues for this one. B98's Kelly Steven, one half of Vikki And Kelly's morning show on B98/Atlanta's, who was nearly killed in a fatal crash late last month, decided now was the time pop the question to his longtime Katie Buser. As Jockline Daily reported in an exclusive bulletin last month (see Jockline, 8/24), Stevens was involved in a early morning head-on collision I-400 in which a wrong-way driver died. Stevens is still recovering in the hospital from injuries but decided life's too short and surprised Buser with an engagement ring from his bedside. This week, with the help of Vikki Locke and Jessica Forkel - plus visiting guest host, Monica Pearson, a popular TV host, Stevens popped the question. Stevens posted on Facebook: “Realizing that tomorrow is promised to no one and that life is way too short I decided to propose to Katie this morning …and thank God she said yes! ... Just wish it hadn’t taken a near death-experience to show me the way.” WATCH VIDEO HERE

95.7 JAMZ's Roy Wood Jr. Says He May Be Out; Station Officials Not So Sure

"Radio is the only job where you're the last person to know that you're out of a job" Wood

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2012 –– Here's a new twist on finding out if you've been canned or not, make it a show topic. On yesterday's Roy Wood Jr. morning show on 95.7 JAMZ, Woods told his listeners his show may be over. This came on the heels of an email co-host Brian Hedrick, known as B.Money, accidentally came across early yesterday morning 6:30 a.m. saying the station had decided to take the Roy Wood Jr. Morning Show in another direction. Woods shared the email with his listeners and started taking calls. The show then came to an abrupt end. According to alabama.com, Woods said "I thought we were pretty set with what my role would be. But I guess not." Woods who is in Los Angeles filming the TBS show "Sullivan & Son," said that the possible end of the show could have something to do with his travel schedule. "Radio is the only job where you're the last person to know that you're out of a job," Woods joked. Meanwhile, according to Kori White, Op's Mgr. for Cox Media Group in Birmingham, said that no official decision has been made about the future of the morning show. He added the incident could have been a misunderstanding and hopes to talk to the program director at 95.7 as well as the hosts to see where everyone stands on the situation. As so often is the case, a FB user quickly started a Save The Jamz Morning Show fan page in support of the show. This news comes just a couple of months after Cox Media put all seven of its Birmingham radio stations up for sale.

She quickly deleted it and apologized. She said, "My tech issues have now reached new heights, apparently. How a deletion turned into a tweet." Jumping on story was KISW/Seattle's Steve Migliore, of The BJ Shea Morning Experience, who decided much to our potential sickness, to tweet both Jay (her fiance) and Alison, and Jay. Sileo Goes On Rant To Fire Up 'Canes: "Sons of A B****es, HIT 'EM"

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2012 –– As we head into the weekend for the next round college football, we thought the Miami Hurricanes could use one more pep talk. So, as a courtesy to both them and to our readers, we'd like to share WQAM/Miami's Dan Dileo near on-air meltdown following last Saturday's 52-13 shellacking by, who would have thunk, Manhattan at Kansas State. Sileo a former Hurricane (cane) superstar went into about a three minute rant that exuded both expletives, screaming, and pleading of 'Cane players with lines such as "....Sons of a b***hes, HIT 'EM!!" This, among several others. Our readers tell us often they love our audio links. We think this one may make your all time favorites. And for the sake of Sileo's blood pressure, let's hope the Canes fare better against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats tomorrow. LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE

Are The Yankees Putting Mike Francesa To Sleep? [VIDEO]

Over 200,000 And Counting Watch Video Online Of Sweeny Murti And Francesa's Exchange

2

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 13TH, 2012 –– Trouble sleeping? How about a sport's update. That seemed to work for WFAN/NY's Mike Francesa (shown) who did his best to stay awake during a rather lengthy Yankee's update form WFAN's Sweeny Murti (Shown). As you'll see in the TV simulcast on The YES Network, Francesa's head seemed to go from the 11:00 position, to 10:00 and come very close to 9:00. We're guessing an alert producer finally caught Mike's attention through his head piece as he quickly jerks his head back into the upright with a total WTF look. Red Sox's Castiglione Reaches 30-Year Mark In Radio Booth [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 13TH, 2012 –– Being a radio jock comes in many forms and perhaps none is more taxing than that of being a radio booth announcer for The Boston Red Sox -- especially this season. WEEI.com's Alex Speier spoke yesterday with Joe Castiglione (shown bottom right with David O'Brien), The Red Sox radio's longtime WEEI broadcaster who was honored at Fenway Park before last night's Red Sox-Yankees on reaching his 30th year."You've been the emcee for so many of these things, have you ever thought of the possibility of you being the one honored during them, rather than the one officiating," asked Speier. "Not really," said Joe. "It's a lot more difficult being on this end than introducing people like I'm used to doing." Castiglione also expressed surprised at lasting this long given his radio home's change of ownership as well as the 'Sox. Of note: The 'Sox came up one run short and lost 5-4 to the the 'Yanks. Former 99X/Atlanta Hosts Join For Online Radio Tribute

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 13TH, 2012 –– For most of the 90's, WNNX-FM's Morning X ruled Atlanta's airwaves. This morning, long since its demise, fans of the show will be able once again to hear longtime hosts, Steve Barnes, Jimmy Baron and Jill in a special tribute broadcast on EX99radio.com. According to The AJC's Rodney Ho, Barnes, part of the show from 1993 to 2003, came up with the idea to bring the station’s spirit back after Cumulus recently switched the alternative rocker to 98.9/The Bone -- A move prompted by Project 9-6-1's switch to CHR Power 96.1. And while it may simply be a short-lived tribute, it has all the usual radio trimmings, including its own website and this week's press release. Barnes tells Ho he can’t define how long he’ll do it since he’s launching it out of his own pocket with no outside financial support. Longtime member Leslie Fram is still questionable for an appearance given her responsibilities at CMT, where she's a SVP. Former PMD Sean Demery may join them as well. Baron told Ho when he posted the news about EX99 on his Facebook page, many fans took the presumption he was back in real “radio.” That’s not true. Baron has had a real estate license for five years and just joined Goldin Group Real Estate Services to be a residential realtor.
