CBS Denies Threatening WFAN's Francesa With Legal Action

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 17TH, 2014 –– “There has been no discussion of any kind in regards to a lawsuit,” said a spokesperson for CBS Radio. This was in regard to WFAN's Mike Francesa claim that he received a letter from his bosses threatening legal action if he continues to harp on the air about his uneven relationship with Fox. According to The New York Post, when told of the latest news during Tuesday’s broadcast, Francesa responded by saying: “Semantics. Tell the truth. I was given it and I can produce it. Cease with the nonsense.” Francesa said he received a letter from his bosses threatening legal action if he continues to harp on the air about his problems with Fox. Since signing with the network in March, Francesa’s show has often been pre-empted and he's often relayed these issues withhis radio audience. After returning to his show on WFAN for his 25th anniversary, he said "Sometimes you get a cake or a watch, sometimes you get a letter threatening to sue you. That's what I got. So that's why we can't talk about it right now. I'm frustrated, but there's not much we can do." Francesa’s show was previously simulcast on the YES Network.

Casey Kasem's Former Nurse Now Suing His Wife Jean

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 17TH, 2014 –– The nurse who looked after the ailing Casey Kasem in the days prior to his death is suing his wife, Jean, claiming she wasn't paid for $10,000 in services. The Daily Mail cites court documents showing Susan Stromin cared for radio legend Casey between May 8 and May 11 this year, just a month before he died on June 15. Stromin claims she looked after Casey in May and was never paid for it. She is also suing for 'loss of sleep, stress, deceit and physical strain'. She claims she worked 42.5 hours of work at $75 an hour while caring for Casey at his Beverly Hills home. The work totaled $2,257.50 and she's also claiming $6,742.50 for 'balance of categories'. The lawsuit was filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court on August 29 and a trial has been set for November 10. The court documents state that the case was postponed because the court was unable to serve Jean with the legal papers, reporting she was out of state, and out of country. Jean arranged for her husband's body to be flown to Oslo, Norway after making bizarre claims that she has Norwegian heritage. She and Casey were married for 34 years. The Santa Monica police department is currently investigating claims of elder abuse against Casey in his final months.

According to syracuse.com, Bee's career was sidelined in 2007 after an auto accident on his way to work left him with damage to his spine and needed surgery. Bee lost his voice. and was left with five inches of titanium in his neck and a "voice like Mickey Mouse." It would be three years before it returned to normal. Bee was forced into retirement and moved to Phoenix, Ariz. with his family to escape the cold, which bothered his neck. This past February, Bee went to the doctor for what he thought was the flu, but it turned out he had leukemia. Now some seven months later, the cancer, which his doctor believes was from his time Vietman where he was sprayed with Agent Orange. A stem cell transplant is planned which could extend his life beyond the one year prognosis doctors have currently given him. Straight Men Marry Each Other Contest Draws Outrage

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMEBER 16TH, 2014 –– New Zealand legalized same-sex marriages over a year ago, but now many in the gay community is outraged over a same-sex marriage between lifelong friends Matt McCormick and Travis McIntosh this past weekend who are both hetero(s)exual They agreed to wed as part of a radio contest by The Edge in New Zealand where they won a free trip to the Rugby World Cup next year in the UK. According to care2.com, the men have been friends since they met playing rugby as young children. They have committed to staying together for at least two years. “It trivializes what we fought for,” said activist Neill Ballantyne. Fellow activist, Joseph Habgood, concurred. “The point of this competition is that men marrying each other is still something that they think is worth having a laugh at.”7 The married couple insist they mean no disrespect. “We are not here to insult anyone,” said McCormick. “We are here to do our own thing and travel our own path.” The humor, McIntosh argues, comes from “seeing how far two good mates would go to win a trip to the Rugby World Cup.” Of course, The Edge is no stranger to controversial contests having married complete strangers three times over the years and staging nude wedding and three elopements to Las Vegas. Plus, after losing the Edge competition 'Would You Rather,' morning co-host Dom Harvey marched in last year's Auckland Pride Parade dressed in a wig, G-string, and holding a sign which read "Queen for a Day." As a sidebar, Harvey is releasing another book next month titled: 'Dom Harvey: Childhood of an Idiot'

Savannah Host Runs Charity 5k In Full Military Gear

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2014 –– Alpha Media’s Tim Leary (Tim Leary & The Morning Showgram-Mornings BOB 106.9 WUBB Savannah, GA/Hilton Head, SC) put on full military battle gear to run the inaugural Run for the Brave 5k. The race attracted more than 220 runners to raise money for Operation Homefront. Leary was joined by Army Specialist Baker Reeves, and Army Sgt. 1st Cl. Philadelphia from Hunter Army Airfield to help him suit up and get through the race. “That’s a lot of extra weight,” stated Sgt. Philadelphia. “All said and done he got about 60-61 extra pounds on him.” “There’s definitely a sense of finality when you get strapped into the body armor and rucksack,” explained Leary. “When overseas, our troops have this weight on them for 10-14 hours at a time…I’m just attempting to go 3.2 miles.” Leary went on to explain something incredible that happened during the race: “Philly and Reeves stayed with me and I made it 1.6 miles running before I had to switch to a “range walk”. (A very fast paced hike) The weight was OK, but the thing that got me was the helmet…it doesn’t release any body heat. I felt my head pulsating. Minutes later two Marine sergeants crossed the finish line, grabbed water, and ran back against the incoming runners to come get me. Right after that, Marine Staff Sgt. Joshua Smith-Parris Island crossed the finish line with his wife and two kids, told them to wait there, and turned around to also come get me.” “They caught up with us just over the 3.0 mile marker and wouldn’t let me fall. They started chanting drill marching cadences to keep me going. I was able to pick it up to a slow jog and the escorted me across the finish line, not leaving a man behind. PHOTO/Sgt.
