[WATCH] Following Court Loss, David Mueller Takes His Case To TV & Radio

7

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 16TH, 2017 –– Following this week's court defeat, David Mueller still insists he's innocent of groping Taylor Swift. “What I’m saying is I didn’t do what they said,” the former KYGO told ABC News’ Clayton Sandell in an exclusive interview. “I never grabbed her. I never had my hand under her skirt and I can pass a polygraph.” He added, “I wasn’t invited to be in the photo. I just moved into the shot the best I could.” He told Sandell, “I asked for something in writing which stated that there was a misunderstanding," Mueller said. "And I can take that to possibly convince someone at a radio station to hire me." When asked if he wanted no money and just the note, Mueller said, "Absolutely." The jury voted on Monday after four hours of deliberation to award Swift the $1 she filed for in the civil court case. WATCH HERE

7On Tuesday, Mueller returned to radio with a call-in to the107.7 The Bone's Lamont & Tonelli Show. Lamont, who said he first met Mueller, known on the air as Jackson, some 15-years ago. He asked, 'Give me the parameters around this, what exactly happened at the meet and greet where Swift accused you of groping her)? David Mueller: We stood in line, we eventually made it to the point where you go into a tented off area, it’s about 10 x 10. My girlfriend went in first -- she went in first and she said hi, I said hi. Taylor shook our hands. The two ladies started talking and I kind of stood near where we came 7into that tented area and abruptly Taylor said, ‘How bout a picture?’ and she put her arm around my girlfriend and pulled her tight and turned her toward the photographer. That’s when I realized ‘Hey were going to take a photo right now’ and I tried to get into the photo. No one said anything, no one did anything. By the way, there was a 350-pound body guard standing two feet away from me. No one said anything, then they thanked us for coming, shook my hand, they gave me a couple autographed headshots."

Mueller later revealed "In civil court, there are certain things…I can’t talk about. For instance, I submitted myself to two polygraph tests. Two, independent polygraph tests and I passed them both. You can’t mention that in civil court or it’s an immediate mistrial. To everyone listening, all those people out there that are sending you hate mail, just listen to this: I passed two polygraphs, what else can I do? If anyone has an idea for me, how I can prove I’m innocent, I’ll do it." Lamont asked, "Did you accuse her of lying during the trial? "I’m not going to make accusations. I can tell you right now if you want to look at my motive, what’s my motive? I had a great career. You guys knew me 15 years ago, I’ve been building my career since I met you guys, and ‘I’m going to walk into a tent with my beautiful girlfriend and a 350-pound body guard and I’m going to grope a celebrity?’ That’s insanity, that makes no sense. 7

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 16TH, 2017 –– Morning hosts Mike & Carla's Project: H2O collected more than 1,200 cases of water to benefit the Salvation Army of Las Vegas. In addition, 96.3 KKLZ-FM received a total of 500 $50 gift cards from Metro Pizza to give to individuals that donated 5 or more cases as well as received a challenge match from a local car dealership after they donated 100 cases. “When we found out The Salvation Army had run out of bottled water, we simply put the word out and it was great to see KKLZ listeners respond,” said Program Director Mike O’Brian. “Most people think the city is just the Las Vegas Strip, but behind the lights, the marquees, the celebrities, and everything else that goes on, people should know there is a true community spirit here. Taylor Swift Prevails In Groping Trial Against Former Denver Morning Host

7

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 15TH, 2017 –– After six days in court and intense media coverage, a verdict was reached in the Taylor Swift groping trial. Late Monday the jury ruled that former radio host David Mueller assaulted and battered her at a meet-and-greet at the Pepsi Center in June 2013. Swift will be awarded a7 symbolic $1. It was further found that her mother Andrea Swift (L) and her radio liaison, Frank Bell (R), did not intentionally interfere with Mueller’s KYGO contract,. According to People, Mueller and his team remained expressionless as the decision was read.

7“I want to thank Judge William J. Martinez and the jury for their careful consideration, my attorneys Doug Baldridge, Danielle Foley, Jay Schaudies and Katie Wright for fighting for me and anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault, and especially anyone who offered their support throughout this four-year ordeal and two-year long trial process,” Swift said in a statement. “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

Swift's attorney Doug Baldridge also gave a brief statement saying, “I think it’s a new day, because someone with the guts and the courage to stand up with absolutely no upside in doing so—that being Taylor Swift—has told everyone, ‘This is it, the line’s drawn.'” In his ruling, the judge said Mueller had filed claims of interference with contract against Swift personally rather than 13 Management, the company under which Andrea Swift and Frank Bell — who works with her management team — are employed. “Simply put, it is far too late for the plaintiff to argue that he had filed the wrong claims against the wrong people,” said Baldridge. BUSINESS: Cumulus Reports Net Revenue Rise Of 1.2% In Q2

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 15TH, 2017 –– Cumulus Media Inc. announced operating results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2017, which showed a net revenue of $290.5 million, up 1.2% from the three months ended June 30, 2016, net income of $5.7 million and Adjusted EBITDA of $67.4 million which was up 6.7% from the three months ended June 30, 2016. Mary Berner (L), President and Chief Executive Officer of Cumulus Media Inc. said, "Our second quarter results provide further evidence of the success of our turnaround strategies as we posted a year-over-year increase 7in Adjusted EBITDA for the first time in over three years despite what continues to be a tough market environment."

The Company operates in two reportable segments, the Radio Station Group and Westwood One. The Radio Station Group revenue is derived primarily from the sale of broadcasting time to local, regional and national advertisers.

Berner said the over 6% revenue growth for the quarter could be attributed to Westwood One, led by President Suzanne Grimes " “This work began with the hiring of a single leader who’s responsibility for all facets of the business provided a perspective necessary to identify and address the core issues, aggressively attack costs and identify opportunities for growth. Westwood One now has a sales effort with a much more sophisticated go-to-market strategy. And the ability to create high value programs to stimulate demand. In fact the entirety of our 6% revenue growth in Q2 was driven by this new business development effort which was virtually non-existent a year ago.”

EXECUTIVE ACTION: Pandora Names Roger Lynch As New CEO And President

7

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 15TH, 2017 –– Pandora has announced that Sling TV founding CEO Roger Lynch (inset) will join the company as CEO and president, effective September 18th, 2017. Naveen Chopra, who served as Pandora’s interim CEO following co-founder Tim Westergren’s announcement that he was vacating all official positions with the company, will continue as chief financial officer. Though Lynch does not have executive experience within the music industry, he has a history of leading companies successfully into new territories and is also a musician himself, as the lead guitarist in classic rock and R&B band The Merger reports The Verge.

Also joining the Pandora board is Michael Lynton, current chairman of Snap Inc. Before Snap, Lynton ran Sony Pictures for over a decade, and his rich history in film could be an indicator in Pandora’s video interest moving forward. Pandora hasn't said much about its video plans since Westergren told The Verge that video was “on our list” back in March, but adding Lynton to the board could mean the company is finally ready to expand into new areas which could help boost Pandora's revenue in the long term.

NIELSEN: Classic Feel To Summer Radio

7

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 15TH, 2017 –– So far, the summer of 2017 is turning out to be a lot like last year when it comes to American radio listening habits reports Nielsen. Each year in the summer, audiences shift and certain formats surge during the dog days of the year. And with the release of Nielsen’s portable people meter (PPM) results for the July survey, a very similar story—as we’ve seen in past summers—is playing out again. Classic Hits and Classic Rock stations are once again vying for the format of the summer designation; in this, we look at major music formats across the first five months of the year and then compare those with the results of the June, July and August surveys. The summer of 2017, however, is turning into a two-horse race, with Classic Hits making strides in July. Classic Rock’s June and July audience share increased 9% from the beginning of the year, with Classic Hits just behind, up 6% over that same time.

From June to July, Classic Hits, which is generally identified with playing more pop music from the same musical eras as Classic Rock, benefited from an increase in share of audience across all three major demographics we monitor. But the real gains came with from Millennials (18-to-34 year-olds) and listeners 25-to-54: The audience share among Millennials grew from 3.8% to a record-tying 4.0%, and the share among listeners 25-to-54 increased from 4.9% to 5.1% to tie another record for audience share in PPM measurement.

Meanwhile, for Country radio, the days of setting new records in the summer are now in the rearview mirror; despite the slowed growth, however, the format has seen an uptick in tune-in this summer, with the share among listeners 6 and older up from last July.
