Clear Channel's Pittman Says Rush Still King of Radio
THE MOUTH, MARCH 28TH, 2012 –– Until this week, most of the official response by company officials over Rush Limbaugh's Sandra Fluke comments came from his syndicator, Premiere Networks. This week, Clear Channel CEO Bob Pittman said in an interview with the Associated Press he's sticking with the host, calling him the "king" of radio. "Limbaugh's comments last month were part of normal day to day of talk radio," said Pittman. He added: that Limbaugh apologized for the first time in 30 years.
As far as departing advertisers, Pittman said it didn't have a major impact on the company and there has not been a major move among stations to drop Limbaugh. "Rush is Rush and radio is radio," Pittman said. According to Premiere, The Rush Limbaugh Show is heard on nearly 600 stations and reaches up to 20 million people each week.

Houston's 92 FM Recreates Titanic’s Final Meal For 100th Anniversary
Offers Listener Chance To Join At Table For Ten Course Meal
THE MOUTH, MARCH 28TH, 2012 –– On April 14, 2012, Houston’s News 92 FM (KROI-FM) and the Houston Museum of Natural Science will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the last meal on the Titanic, offering one station listener and a guest the opportunity to experience a recreation of the ten-course dinner served to first-class passengers on that fateful night.
Following a tour of “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition” at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the dining party will be transported by motor coach to Cullen’s Restaurant. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Coming April 14th
Phrase Credited To WAKR/Akron's Alan Freed; Served As Host To 1st Rock Concert
THE MOUTH, MARCH 28TH, 2012 –– The 27th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is just around the corner, but while the phrase "rock n' roll" ignited a whole new music genré, what's often forgotten is where it all began. According to Cleveland's TV 5, it started at WAKR/Akron with the help of a soon to be famous jock, Alan Freed. While his career got started in Pennsylvania in 1942, he then moved to WAKR in 1945 and was a local celebrity before moving on to WJW radio. As the story went, Freed would make frequent trips to Leo Mintz’s Record Rendezvous, which sold rhythm and blues records, and was inspired to create a new name for the music to mask racial tensions. Freed decided to host a dance at the Cleveland Arena featuring some R&B acts. While the venue only seated 10,000, another 20,000 tried to crash the gates. In 1954, he joined WINS in New York and went on to host a weekly music TV show on ABC. Sadly, Freed's storied career spiraled downward following several indictments related to the payola scandal in the '60s. He later died of kidney failure at the age of 43. Never lost, however, was 'Rock n' Roll.' As some say, it's here to stay. CHECK OUT THIS YEAR'S INDUCTEES
