Win A Baby Contest Winner Is Expecting

THE MOUTH, MARCH 30TH, 2012 –– Ryan and Natasha Derouchie (shown center), finalists in the highly publicized Win A Baby contest, visited the Hot 89.9 studio Thursday morning to announce on air that they are expecting. After trying to conceive a baby for more than five years, Natasha and Ryan Derouchie of Ottawa never thought a radio contest would have helped them make their dream come true. But it did, and they couldn't be happier. The New Hot 89-9 announced on the air Thursday that the finalist couple in the controversial Win A Baby contest is expecting a child. The Derouchies and four other couples won up to three fertility treatments valued at $35,000 in October. Natasha only ended up using one in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment before doctors told her she was pregnant. “I just started shaking when I got the phone call,” said Natasha. "They said they heard from critics who said if they couldn’t conceive naturally, then it’s God’s way of saying they don’t deserve a baby. “You can’t make everybody happy,” said Ryan. “For five years we tried and tried and got tested as far as our will or hope, and in the end, we could also say that the contest and the way it came was meant to be." As for Hot 89.9, last week they took home an award during Canadian Music Week for the contest. The station won Radio Promotion of the Year at the festival, which celebrates the Canadian music and radio industry.“Our true Hotties were on board with this from day one and to see us get international attention and now this award is a testament to how great they truly are." Mauler tells Jockline Daily.

Clear Channel Cuts Hit Numerous Mid-Size Markets

THE MOUTH, MARCH 30TH, 2012 –– Numerous Clear Channel stations across the U.S. were hit yesterday with massive personnel cuts, many involving longtime PD's, jocks and support staff. In a statement from Clear Channel VP Angel Aristone, it said: "We are constantly evaluating our organization and structure to make sure we are as well positioned as possible to continue to lead in the evolving marketplace. We've been looking closely at our business to ensure that we are properly staffed and operating as efficiently as possible with the right balance of services and personnel to meet the needs of our listeners/consumers. Like every successful business, our strategy continues to evolve as we move forward as a company and that creates some new jobs, and unfortunately eliminates others. In the process, some employees were affected. These are never easy decisions to make; we thank them for their service and wish them all the best for the future. Among the cuts included longtime WLAC/Nashville PD Tom Peace, WMIL/Milwaukee's Mitch Morgan; KXXY/OKC's morning co-host Dan Stroud and numerous Total Traffic employees. If you were affected in this latest round of cuts, please forward your contact information if you would like for us to post.

JUST HUNKY: "1st Annual Hottest Men of Radio" Revealed

7

THE MOUTH, MARCH 29TH, 2012 –– Welcome to the 1st annual "Hottest Men of Radio." The Hottest Men of Radio awards were started in response to the popcrunch Hottest Women of Radio awards. Be aware, there was absolutely no nomination system whatsoever. The Bert Show's (syndicated) Kristin Klingshirn and Social Media Director Cassie Young scoured radio station websites, Facebook, and Twitter for a couple of hours, and then Googled themselves silly to find the hottest guys they could. Keep in mind, they were very biased. They didn’t care if you had done good work in your community or had won any awards of significance. They just wanted to find 50 fine pieces of hunk. Shown above were just a few of the finalist. L-R, Premiere syndicated Bobby Bones, Houston Alexander, 106.9 Omaha, Mike Catherwood, KROQ LA, Will Patterson, Radio One Philly, Wes Moss, 95.5 N/T Atlanta and Phil Kross, 100.3 NY. You won't believe who made number 1. CHECK OUT ALL THE HUNKAGE HERE

Daly Issues Apology Following Gay Quip

THE MOUTH, MARCH 29TH 2012 –– Seems lately that radio hosts are doing lots of apologizing. Yesterday, brought yet another one . Amp 97.1/LA and host of "The Voice," Carson Daly went into quick crisis control following a comment involving the recent meltdown of a flight captain. He said "Most of the people were on their way to some sort of security conference in Las Vegas. It was like a bunch of dudes, and well-trained dudes ... With my luck, it would be like, 'This is the flight going to the gay pride parade in San Francisco.' I mean, that would be my colleagues." As expected, the comment brought quick reaction from the LGBT community and Daly was equally swift in issuing a statement of apology. According to aceshowbiz.com, he said "We live in a time where gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals find courage every day to overcome adversity, stand up to bullying and find equality ... The fact that I have hurt anyone is devastating. I'm not that guy. I'm proud to be an ally of the LGBT community and will continue to fight with them." Via twitter, Daly added "This morning on my radio show I attempted to make fun of myself & offended others by mistake. I sincerely apologize." 1

Stern Joins ‘The View,’ 'Jimmy Fallon' And 'Today' To Promote AGT; Snubs Leno

THE MOUTH, MARCH 29TH, 2012 –– With only weeks remaining before "America's Got Talent" makes its debut with first-time judge Howard Stern, NBC was quick to schedule the loquacious, never too shy to speak out radio host on numerous TV shows to promote the season's opener. Among the more prominent stops tweeted by Stern include “The View,” “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and the “Today Show" Not surprisingly, missing from list was "The Tonight Show's Jay Leno." If you've followed some of visted on "David Letterman's" Show, you're well aware of his disdain for the longtime host. He once told Piers Morgan that Leno was a "crook, insane, not fit to scrub David Letterman’s feet,” he added that Leno "steals a tremendous amount of material.” “America must be filled with morons,” said Stern, “the ones who watch Jay, they must be in a coma.” Photo: Stern/Twitter

Trey Songz Tells KLUC's Buchanan He's Not Sure If He's Snooki's Baby Daddy [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, MARCH 29TH, 2012 –– As Jockline inbox gets inundated each day with links to cool on-air interviews, yesterday's visit by recording artist Trey Songz to 98.5's KLUC/Las Vegas' Chet Buchanan show definitely caught our ear. There to promote his new 'Chapter V' album, instead of plugs, he ended up nearly sending co-host, and top 10 'Hottest Women of Radio' finalist Lauren Michaels to the shower. Right from the start, it was pretty obvious Lauren was crushin' big time on the popular artist and Trey didn't appear to be shy about returning favor. In the link below, track one will give you most of their playful flirtation --- uhhh, we think playful. But track 2 is where things got interesting when Chet asked Trey "Are you, or are you not the father of Snooki's baby?" Trey said "I mean man, some things happened that night. It got a little crazy and I'm actually not sure ... if it comes out with a little swagger and a six pack..." Chet said Snooki isn't saying a word. LISTEN TO AUDIO

Free Beer Welcomes Little Henry; Brings Show A Dose of Placenta [VIDEO]

THE MOUTH, MARCH 29TH, 2012 –– Free Beer, of the Compass Media syndicated Free Beer and Hot Wings Show was back yesterdsay for the first time since the birth of his son Henry last week. He brought in some show and tell, which is always fun. When the time came, he produced a bag containing 5 little pills. Free Beer and his wife had done it. They had taken the placenta from the birth and had it ground up and molded in to pill form! He told Jockline Daily "Holy s*** were we shocked to learn this! He then asked which member of the show would like to consume some placenta. Zane agreed right away. Hot Wings and I were not feeling it and declined. Joe initially declined as well, but after a bit of pressure, he reluctantly agreed. A little while later, however, Free Beer revealed that the pills WERE NOT placenta pills, but instead the multi-vitamin he takes every day. That’s right. Free Beer trolled us. And now I trolled you. Feel free to pass this video along and keep the trolling going!" WATCH VIDEO

LEYKIS: "Radio Is Not Audio Content Any More Than The Rolling Stones Are A Phonograph"

Longtime talker Tom Leykis returns to the airwaves on Monday with his all new podcast. His reappearance drew a nice interview from Gary Lycan in The Orange County Register. He tells Gary the show will start, as always, every day at 3 p.m. Most days it's scheduled to run 3-6. Some days, such as Leykis 101 Thursday, we'll go until 7 so we can do 101 at the same time as always. Among the topics he plans to address include Rush Limbaugh and John & Ken. And, of course, L.A.'s City Council weighing in on what constitutes "acceptable speech." He tells Lycan "I have a lot to say about that." The show will originate from his New Normal Studios in Burbank. With regard to the huge feedback he received via his eBay auction, he "Good radio personalities have passionate followings that don't show up directly on balance sheets, but they are the reason why station values went from millions of dollars to hundreds of millions." Referring to a previous interview with Lycan he refuses to refer to what he does as "radio" because, he says, "radio is not audio content any more than the Rolling Stones are a phonograph. Radio is an appliance ... one of the oldest of many delivery systems for audio content."

Real Radio NW Changes Breakfast Plans - Real Radio in the North West has revealed details of its new breakfast show to launch next week, which is a change from what was previously announced. The Feel Good Breakfast will be presented by Sam Walker and Lorna Bancroft and replaces the short-lived ’2 Girls and A Guy’ show which only kicked off in January. The GMG station said in December that Lorna would join Real Radio network overnight presenter Oli Kemp and previous breakfast team member Debbie Ousbey for the new show, which started in the New Year as a replacement for Ditchy and Salty. A week into January, it was announced that Sam Walker would leave Key 103 in April and join Lorna and Oli for the show. Now the station has confirmed that a new show launching on 2nd April will feature Sam and Lorna, with Oli returning to his previous shifts on overnights across the Real Radio network and weekend breakfast on Real Radio NW. Real Radio Brand Programme Director Mark Matthews said, “We’ve had the opportunity to develop the new show over the last three months and Sam and Lorna have shown they really understand our thirty-something audience. Those dry-runs have also led me to the conclusion that the pace and feel of the programme will flow better as a double rather than triple header, and therefore Oli Kemp is returning to his weekend breakfast and overnight shows.”
