[WATCH] Ex-Talk Host Sent To Prison For Fraud

7

THE MOUTH, JUNE 6TH, 2017 –– A former host of a money investment radio talk show was sent to prison yesterday along with a member of a Texas oil company for a fraud in which area residents lost millions reports The Journal News. Robert McManus pleaded guilty in 2013 to the sale of unregistered securities and the sale of securities without a license, both second-degree felonies. He previously hosted a Sunday morning show on 700 WLW called “Safe Money America.” McManus sold promissory notes issued by a Texas oil company, between 2010 and 2011, raising more than $2 million from 18 victims — 16 in Ohio, one in Kentucky and one in Indiana, according to Butler County Assistant Prosecutor Dan Ferguson. The investments, according to prosecutors, were for two oil wells to be drilled by North Shore with the promise of as much as 15 percent to 20 percent return on investment.

William Troy West, 48, of Texas, who pleaded guilty in 2015 to fraud and sale of unregistered securities, was sentenced to six years in prison. A third defendant has taken a plea deal and will be sentenced in August. McManus said he has lost his home and his business and that his family is “a mess. He told the judge he was “sorry and ashamed.” He maintained he did not know the laws about the sale of promissory notes in Ohio. PHOTO/screengrab WATCH HERE

Asked if he works better with female collaborators, the singer who has worked with the likes of Lorde, Julia Michaels and Carly Rae Jepsen said, "I think the music industry is pretty weird and a lot of men have [this] 'Let's crush the world' feeling. I get that question a lot, so I think about it. Sometimes I write in the falsetto octave, so maybe it works for that reason. I grew up with sisters.
