Howard Stern Invited Back To AGT Next Season

THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –– After all the hoopla surrounding Howard Stern joining the judging cast of this season's 'America's Got Talent, as it turned out a good choice for NBC as this year's ratings are higher than ever. And apparently, AGT wants to ensure they stay that way next season. On yesterday's radio show, Stern told his listeners he has been invited back to judge AGT next season, but whether he accepts or not is still being decided. According to tvgasm.com, this week was the first time he began doing double duty with radio and AGT, so this miss weigh in on his decision. Writer "Nads," says "The one thing I love about Howard is that he always puts radio first before TV. He knows he’s a radio guy, he talks about being a radio guy first, and that’s where his loyalty is." On a hunch, Jockline Daily is inclined to think Stern will take them up on their offer, but you can bet there will be some well-publicized negotiation between now and then for a new deal.

STEVE VAN ZANDT: Pulling The Plug On Springsteen & McCartney "Fascist Stupid!" [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –– As you no doubt are aware, the unthinkable happened this past weekend at London's Hyde Park during the first-ever jam session between The Boss and Sir Paul – the plug was pulled on Springsteen and McCartney after the rock legends violated the local curfew. Yesterday on CCME/Floriday's Paul and Young Ron Show, Springsteen’s longtime sidekick and “E” Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt was a guest oand called the short-circuiting of the historic set “fascist stupid,” saying the musicians were more “shocked” than “pissed off.” “That rigid sort of following rules and regulations, we’ve been rebelling against that our whole lives,” said Van Zandt. “Rock & Roll’s been rebelling against it its whole existence.”We could have played three more songs  and still been done by 11:00” LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE

Todd & Guenn Go '50 Shades Of Grey' Everyday [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –_ If morning commuters in Charlotte catch women panting in the car next to them, it could be that they're tuned into K104.7 Todd Baker & Guenn Show. Starting this week, every morning at 7:42 it's "Fifty Seconds of Grey...for the working woman on the run who doesn't have time for summer reading"! Every weekday morning they don't just read an excerpt from the "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel, they re-enact it, complete with sound effects, music, etc. "The not so FCC friendly words become the sounds of whips cracking!" says Baker. "We thought about what we could do to put a new twist on this literary phenomenon, and came up with a way to re-create the love (or lust) story of Christian and Anastasia for our heavily female audience. Each morning they take creative license with a scene, and are planning on working their way through the entire book. "To mix it up some days we gender bend, where I play Anastasia and Guenn plays Christian!" says Baker. "Our audience is loving it, we even had a call from one woman who was so enthralled with the hot-action, that while driving she missed her exit and was late for work"! Hopefully her morning got off to a HAPPY start. LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE

Saga Communications Boost Mobile Presence with Marketron Mobile

THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –– Marketron has released results from a recent national mobile campaign that they powered for Saga Communications. A long-time Marketron customer, Saga worked with Marketron Mobile for its "Saga Collective Texting Contest" this spring, and the collaboration successfully engaged Saga's listeners and drove high participation-over 178,000 new members were added to the Saga text club. "Saga used this texting program to create contest differentiation from our competition among the 30 participating stations - we were looking for something bigger and more interesting than another "9th caller" phone promotion," said Steve Goldstein (shown), Executive Vice President of Saga Communications. "The stats show we achieved our goals with substantial increases in our database and participation levels that exceed anything we had done in the past. Concentration of force works." Saga worked with Marketron Mobile in its "Saga Collective Texting Contest Spring 2012," which gave listeners a chance to win $1,000 twice daily on weekdays from April 2 to May 5, 2012 and included 31 participating stations nationally. Over 3.3 million texts were received during the contest which included nearly one million total "episode unique" entries. THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –– Alan Burns and Associates continue to release information from its third national study of female radio listeners while will revealed in its entirety this Thursday. Among the data shows that one of every eight women already has internet access in her car.“Even without a Bluetooth dashboard, women are using internet in their cars via their smartphones” said Alan Burns. “24% of our sample said they use or listen to the internet in their cars weekly; 16% do it every day. But usage of built-in access is even higher: almost half the women whose cars are so equipped use the internet in their cars daily.”What will happen to radio when more cars come equipped with in-dash internet? Burns says women cite “can’t get internet in my car” as the #1 reason for not listening more to personalized music streamers like Pandora, but women who already have in-car access still listen to radio more often than anything else in the car, and just as often as other women. Beginning tomorrow, the results from this study are being unveiled in a series of free webinars presented by Triton Digital. Merlin Flips News Back To Music In New York & Chicago

THE MOUTH, JULY 17TH, 2012 –– So much for sources close to the situation. With rumors suggesting that Merlin's full staff meetings with both it's WEMP/New York & WIQI/Chicago would likely result in more of a hybrid, news/talk format such as it's Philly property, that certainly didn't turn out to the case. In a statement released just after 10 am et this morning, Merlin chief, Randy Michaels stated: "Effective immediately, Alternative is back on the air in NEW YORK as NEW ROCK 101.9 and Adult Hits are on the air in CHICAGO as i101. It was a difficult decision to make, but after a year of minimal audience engagement, coupled with the format’s inherent expense, I felt it was time to make a change. I’d like to thank the people who poured their heart and soul into the effort and I wish them all the best."

Radio Host's 911 Call Leads To Arrest of Burglary Suspects

THE MOUTH, JULY 17TH, 2012 –– Not a good day for a group of burglary suspects in Brentwood, Missouri. According to Fox 2 TV, the foursome, who had been following patrons back from the Lumiere Casino to their homes and then robbing them, were first caught on hi-res cameras outside their intended target's homes. As luck had it, the cameras were originally set up by a resident, Ronald Nichols, to catch animals who had been breaking into trash cans. “They’re just unbelievable,” said Nichols. “You couldn`t have even staged them better than what they were.” Brentwood Police Chief Steve Disbennett credits KTRS/St. Louis morning host McGraw Millhaven for calling 911 and putting three of the suspects behind bars. As it turns out, some of those in custody face multiple charges including burglary, robbery and armed criminal action. The group first prompted Millhaven's call to 911 when he noticed their car pull up to a house with a missing license plate. While the suspects remain in custody with bonds ranging from $75 to $100,000, the fourth burgular is being pursued. WATCH VIDEO

BURN'S STUDY: Music Streamers Having Minimal Impact On Radio Listening

THE MOUTH, JULY 17TH, 2012 –– Data scheduled for release this Thursday from Alan Burns and Associates’ annual study of women shows that personalized streaming services like Pandora are having minimal impact on radio listening. “Custom streams are clearly growing,” commented Alan Burns. “However, daily users of personalized music streams are even more likely to listen to radio on a daily basis. And the heaviest users of custom streams listen to more total radio than average – they are heavy consumers of media and music in almost all forms.” Burns noted that daily TSL to radio by Pandora listeners is slightly lower than average, but their total radio usage is at most 5% lower than the all-women average. “If you could invent a music service that adapted to your music tastes without you having to do anything, was mood-selectable with one click, was highly social, inserted your local weather and traffic information, and was available everywhere, all you’d have done is invent radio” said Burns. “Radio is terrifically resilient.”

IT'S OFFICIAL: Michael Lohan Tells Loper & Randy He & Kate Major Are Preggers [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, JULY 17TH, 2012 –– Leave it to a morning show to not let something like a guest being asleep to get in the way of breaking news. This was the case for the recently transplanted "Loper and Randi Show," from West Palm To WRKZ/99.7 'The Blitz/Columbus. No sooner did they catch wind of celebrity dad, Michael Lohan, and lady friend Kate Major's preggers rumor, they went right to the source. A clearly asleep Lohan answered his phone at what we're guessing was around 4 or 5 am California time to answer whether or not the rumors were true. In spite of asking Roper to call back later, the host pulled out the always reliable "Just answer this' question, Randi asked Lohan if the rumors are true. "Of course!," says Lohan. And while you may wonder if Lohan was asleep, why did he left the phone on, uhhhh... think again who they were calling. LISTEN TO AUDIO
