Zimmerman To Hannity: "I'm Sorry That This Happened" [VIDEO]

THE MOUTH, JULY 19TH, 2012 –– What was clearly a major coup, TV/Radio's Sean Hannity sat down with George Zimmerman and his lawyer at an undisclosed location in Florida for an exclusive interview. Zimmerman said he had followed Martin because he looked suspicious running between houses in the rain. Later, he claims Martin confronted him and "asked me what my problem was?" Zimmerman said as reached into his pocket to find his phone to call 911 for a second time "I looked up and he punched me and broke my nose." At one point Zimmerman claims he heard Martin telling him he was going to kill me. Zimmerman, now in hiding, said he feels his life is in jeopardy, based on death threats he has received. Following the shooting, he was charged with second-degree murder for the shooting of Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26 in Sanford, Fl. Zimmerman has long held that he acted in self-defense. The interview ended with Zimmerman looking into the camera and saying that he wishes the night hadn't ended in Martin's death. "I do want to tell everyone, my wife, my family, my parents, my grandmother, the Martins, the city of Sanford and America that I'm sorry that this happened," he said. "I hate to think that because of this incident, because my actions, it's polarized and divided American. And I'm truly sorry." WATCH INTERVIEW HERE

BURN's STUDY: Radio Websites Could Still Use Some Work

THE MOUTH, JULY 19TH, 2012 –– For Radio to Be Successful in a Digital World Its Web Sites Need Improvement. That's the consensus of Alan Burns, following his latest study of 2000 women. In the latest peek, he says that while the number of weekly visitors to radio station web sites jumped in the past year, the industry still has to significantly improve its web presence. “The weekly cume, or number of unique visitors, to radio station web sites grew at an annual rate of 12.5% over the last two years, with most of that growth in the last twelve months” said CEO Alan Burns, “so stations are doing some things right. But most women still have never visited their favorite radio station’s site. They tell us they don’t need it, or just don’t think of it as a place to go on the internet.” According to Burns, one major reason for that is that of all the elements women want most on a station web site, they get, or expect to find, less than half on their favorite station’s site. “They’re also asking for less clutter on our sites” said Burns Sr. VP Jeff Johnson. Limbaugh Takes On The Dark Knight

THE MOUTH, JULY 19TH, 2012 –– Leave it to radio's most listened to talk host, Rush Limbaugh, to take on Hollywood's most talked about film character, The Dark Knight. This week on his radio show, he opined that the villain, "Bane," was a name chosen intentionally to get voters thinking about Bain Capital, the private equity fund founded by Romney. “There’s now discussion out there as to whether or not this was purposeful, and whether or not it will influence voters ... the audience is going to be huge, a lot of people are going to see the movie. And it's a lot of brain-dead people ... entertainment, the pop culture crowd. And they're going to hear 'Bane' in the movie, and they are going to associate Bain,” Limbaugh said. He also seemed convinced that film creator Christopher Nolan’s choice of Bane as the villain wasn’t a coincidence. And neither do we think it was just a coicidence that Rush's theory is now being posted like crazy on websites and in news articles everywhere. Who was it that once said, there's nothing better for creating show buzz than to latch on to a giant news story and become part of it? Hmmm.

ADAM CAROLLA: "Everyone Can Kiss My A**!"

Says He Never Said Women Were Not Funny

THE MOUTH, JULY 19TH, 2012 –– With one of the most listened to podcasts in the world, Adam Carolla garners more attention than perhaps he'd prefer. Either way, he's undeterred by criticism he recently got over claims that he said women weren't funny. Now out touring with talker Dennis Prager, he'll continue his live podcasts and on November 16 will make a special appearance with Dennis Miller in Anaheim, California. As for the comment, he tells uproxx.com "He’s not sorry that women think he said they’re not funny. "Oh listen, I don’t care ... I have a podcast. I sell books and I sell theater tickets. Obviously, I was misquoted. I didn’t say, 'Women aren’t funny.' I said that men are funnier than women, because I was asked if men are funnier than women. I just told the truth, and then people took it and ran with it, and it’s fine." As for life in a non-corporate environment, he says "Everyone can kiss my ass, I don’t care. I’m not involved with Hollywood, I don’t want to be involved with Hollywood ... I don’t want to do a sitcom. I want to work for myself, and I do work for myself. I make plenty of money working for myself. I built it so they can’t take it away."

97X's Bill Michael's Daughter Tapped For "Live Uncommon" Campaign Following Incredible Spinal Surgery Story

7

THE MOUTH, JULY 19TH, 2012 –– Listeners of Cumulus' 97X Quad Citie's IA's Bill Michaels, one have of the hugely popular Dwyer and Michaels Show, are well aware of his daughter's spinal surgery earlier this year. Jockline Daily is extremely happy to share this latest part of the story. Bill tells us "We just got back from our marathon follow-up visit in Iowa City (everything is on track and looks good). Still no bike riding, but she can start swimming--which is all she really cared about, and she can go out on the boat with us if we take it easy. There's a local scholarship organization called "Live Uncommon" and they recognize people who've overcome obstacles or live an exemplary lifestyle. They've now chosen her to be on the LU team and use her story to motivate people to rise above challenges and face tough times head on etc. She did a photo shoot and asked if she'd model their swimwear line which is coming out. They also included her on the side of their semi. It's pretty cool. In the above photos, you can see the x-rays taken prior to surgery. I'm sure you'll agree, seeing this young lady standing so beautifully in front of the semi is truly breathtaking. Send Bill, his daughter and family your best wishes HERE.

Tulsa's Carey Takes Cue From 'Boot Camp; Pulls An Urban

7

THE MOUTH, JULY 19TH, 2012 –– It's no secret, Morning Show Boot Camp is a conference that keeps on giving all year long. Here's yet another example: K95/Tulsa's Jim Carey (shown above left) wrote: "Thanks so much for putting on Bootcamp. I've marked down next year's date (August 2013/Chicago). To prove I learned something in Miami, I've attached the above pic as evidence. They said during the social media session (presented by Stephanie Winans) that listeners like pics that show 'vulnerability' and pics that are 'a parity of a viral pic.' I think my re-creation of Keith Urban's Speedo pic in People falls into BOTH those categories. Our facebook views shot thru the roof!!!! (Plus lots of people are gouging out their eyeballs to try to relieve the pain of looking at it. Have a great day!"

Stern Says He's Been Invited Back To Next Season's AGT

THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –– After all the hoopla surrounding Howard Stern joining the judging cast of this season's 'America's Got Talent, as it turned out a good choice for NBC as this year's ratings are higher than ever. And apparently, AGT wants to ensure they stay that way next season. On yesterday's radio show, Stern told his listeners he has been invited back to judge AGT next season, but whether he accepts or not is still being decided. According to tvgasm.com, this week was the first time he began doing double duty with radio and AGT, so this miss weigh in on his decision. Writer "Nads," says "The one thing I love about Howard is that he always puts radio first before TV. He knows he’s a radio guy, he talks about being a radio guy first, and that’s where his loyalty is." On a hunch, Jockline Daily is inclined to think Stern will take them up on their offer, but you can bet there will be some well-publicized negotiation between now and then for a new deal.

STEVE VAN ZANDT: Pulling The Plug On Springsteen & McCartney "Fascist Stupid!" [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –– As you no doubt are aware, the unthinkable happened this past weekend at London's Hyde Park during the first-ever jam session between The Boss and Sir Paul – the plug was pulled on Springsteen and McCartney after the rock legends violated the local curfew. Yesterday on CCME/Floriday's Paul and Young Ron Show, Springsteen’s longtime sidekick and “E” Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt was a guest oand called the short-circuiting of the historic set “fascist stupid,” saying the musicians were more “shocked” than “pissed off.” “That rigid sort of following rules and regulations, we’ve been rebelling against that our whole lives,” said Van Zandt. “Rock & Roll’s been rebelling against it its whole existence.”We could have played three more songs  and still been done by 11:00” LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE

Todd & Guenn Go '50 Shades Of Grey' Everyday [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –_ If morning commuters in Charlotte catch women panting in the car next to them, it could be that they're tuned into K104.7 Todd Baker & Guenn Show. Starting this week, every morning at 7:42 it's "Fifty Seconds of Grey...for the working woman on the run who doesn't have time for summer reading"! Every weekday morning they don't just read an excerpt from the "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel, they re-enact it, complete with sound effects, music, etc. "The not so FCC friendly words become the sounds of whips cracking!" says Baker. "We thought about what we could do to put a new twist on this literary phenomenon, and came up with a way to re-create the love (or lust) story of Christian and Anastasia for our heavily female audience. Each morning they take creative license with a scene, and are planning on working their way through the entire book. "To mix it up some days we gender bend, where I play Anastasia and Guenn plays Christian!" says Baker. "Our audience is loving it, we even had a call from one woman who was so enthralled with the hot-action, that while driving she missed her exit and was late for work"! Hopefully her morning got off to a HAPPY start. LISTEN TO AUDIO HERE

Saga Communications Boost Mobile Presence with Marketron Mobile

THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –– Marketron has released results from a recent national mobile campaign that they powered for Saga Communications. A long-time Marketron customer, Saga worked with Marketron Mobile for its "Saga Collective Texting Contest" this spring, and the collaboration successfully engaged Saga's listeners and drove high participation-over 178,000 new members were added to the Saga text club. "Saga used this texting program to create contest differentiation from our competition among the 30 participating stations - we were looking for something bigger and more interesting than another "9th caller" phone promotion," said Steve Goldstein (shown), Executive Vice President of Saga Communications. "The stats show we achieved our goals with substantial increases in our database and participation levels that exceed anything we had done in the past. Concentration of force works." Saga worked with Marketron Mobile in its "Saga Collective Texting Contest Spring 2012," which gave listeners a chance to win $1,000 twice daily on weekdays from April 2 to May 5, 2012 and included 31 participating stations nationally. Over 3.3 million texts were received during the contest which included nearly one million total "episode unique" entries. Throughout the campaign, some markets saw as much as 82 percent total growth in their membership clubs.

STUDY: 24% Of Women Use Or Listen To The Internet In Their Cars Via Smartphone

THE MOUTH, JULY 18TH, 2012 –– Alan Burns and Associates continue to release information from its third national study of female radio listeners while will revealed in its entirety this Thursday. Among the data shows that one of every eight women already has internet access in her car.“Even without a Bluetooth dashboard, women are using internet in their cars via their smartphones” said Alan Burns. “24% of our sample said they use or listen to the internet in their cars weekly; 16% do it every day. But usage of built-in access is even higher: almost half the women whose cars are so equipped use the internet in their cars daily.”What will happen to radio when more cars come equipped with in-dash internet? Burns says women cite “can’t get internet in my car” as the #1 reason for not listening more to personalized music streamers like Pandora, but women who already have in-car access still listen to radio more often than anything else in the car, and just as often as other women. Beginning tomorrow, the results from this study are being unveiled in a series of free webinars presented by Triton Digital.
