Former Host Files (S)exual Harassment Suit Against Ohio Station

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 18TH, 2014 –– A former host for WNIR/Akron has files a (s)exual harassment suit against the northern Ohio station alleging she was referred to by a crude anatomical reference at a public event by another host. According to norwalkreflector.com, the former WNIR host, Maggie Fuller (shown,) has filed the suit against the radio station and its owners, Bill and Bob Klaus. Fuller parted ways with 100.1-FM one year ago after the station owners declined to discipline another WNIR host who was reported to have referred to her using a crude anatomical reference at a public event. The suit accuses the owners of 'abetting unlawful discriminatory practices, causing Fuller to lose $38,000 a year in income plus benefits, as well as suffer mental anguish, humiliation and loss of reputation.' It asks that Fuller be reinstated at the station and compensated for lost wages, or if not reinstated, given lost income as well as “future wages and benefits.” It also seeks $50,000 in compensatory and punitive damages. Fuller, aka Nancy Jones of Kent, was hired by WNIR in 1999 and joined the morning crew, where banter “required” her to “endure a degree of (s)exual innuendo with her male colleagues.” Reportedly, Bill Klaus always instructed employees that there were limits on language that would be permitted on air, in public and in the workplace, “including avoidance of obscene and hateful terms,” the suit says. During the summer of 2013, the station sponsored “patio parties” at a local restaurant. At one such event on Aug. 29, the lawsuit said, Denning was in a conversation with WNIR fans when another host repeatedly called Fuller the “c” word. PHOTO/Fuller READ COMPLETE ARTICLE HERE

CBS Denies Threatening WFAN's Francesa With Legal Action

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 17TH, 2014 –– “There has been no discussion of any kind in regards to a lawsuit,” said a spokesperson for CBS Radio. This was in regard to WFAN's Mike Francesa claim that he received a letter from his bosses threatening legal action if he continues to harp on the air about his uneven relationship with Fox. According to The New York Post, when told of the latest news during Tuesday’s broadcast, Francesa responded by saying: “Semantics. Tell the truth. I was given it and I can produce it. Cease with the nonsense.” Francesa said he received a letter from his bosses threatening legal action if he continues to harp on the air about his problems with Fox. Since signing with the network in March, Francesa’s show has often been pre-empted and he's often relayed these issues with his radio audience. After returning to his show on WFAN for his 25th anniversary, he said "Sometimes you get a cake or a watch, sometimes you get a letter threatening to sue you. That's what I got. So that's why we can't talk about it right now. I'm frustrated, but there's not much we can do." Francesa’s show was previously simulcast on the YES Network. 1

Casey Kasem's Former Nurse Now Suing His Wife Jean

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 17TH, 2014 –– The nurse who looked after the ailing Casey Kasem in the days prior to his death is suing his wife, Jean, claiming she wasn't paid for $10,000 in services. The Daily Mail cites court documents showing Susan Stromin cared for radio legend Casey between May 8 and May 11 this year, just a month before he died on June 15. Stromin claims she looked after Casey in May and was never paid for it. She is also suing for 'loss of sleep, stress, deceit and physical strain'. She claims she worked 42.5 hours of work at $75 an hour while caring for Casey at his Beverly Hills home. The work totaled $2,257.50 and she's also claiming $6,742.50 for 'balance of categories'. The lawsuit was filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court on August 29 and a trial has been set for November 10. The court documents state that the case was postponed because the court was unable to serve Jean with the legal papers, reporting she was out of state, and out of country. Jean arranged for her husband's body to be flown to Oslo, Norway after making bizarre claims that she has Norwegian heritage. She and Casey were married for 34 years. The Santa Monica police department is currently investigating claims of elder abuse against Casey in his final months.
